  1. Thanks for posting Dave, that's what propelled me to post this thread in the first place as I am on Garage Hangover's update list and when I got that info I remembered about that particular Raven 45 in my collection.
  2. Ah, so is he 'Pee Wee' or someone completely different?
  3. I see John's latest features an Invitations on MGM, bet that surpasses all other copies before it!
  4. Same as mine Paul, bet you'd get a few quid off the bay for those.
  5. Yes, I've seen the one on Centennial but only heard one side. Pity about the youtube clip not seeing any vinyl action
  6. "Hey y'all listen to me, I really got something I want you to see. I know a place not so far away, where you can move and groove all night and day. Get aboard your motorbike, run, walk or jive 'cos it's outasight!"
  7. Pfft! ...and it's not even in a Vocalion sleeve, unlike mine!
  8. As a collector of Blue-eyed Soul/Beach/Garage/California Sound etc... I thought I'd ask about a curious 45 residing in my collection on 'Raven'. Not sure if it's the same label as the Soulmasters/Gene & Teambeats etc but it's from West Virginia. 'I'm So Tired' is a nice down-tempo ballad whilst 'Fat Woman' is a more funky uptempo offering. I know absolutely nothing about the group but found a nice tune by them on youtube, unfortunately it offers no information whatsoever about it's release so I'm asking if anyone on here knows if it was released?
  9. As a collector for 35 odd years I couldn't believe there was one on there I didn't know! The Ster-phonics....and what a tune!!!
  10. Someone mentioned a book, didn't Anglo American recently publish a price guide featuring albums and the 'Northern' type tracks listed? Anyway, as a serious album collector and I do have most already mentioned, I agree with those listed. Here's one not mentioned and a great inclusion...
  11. Some of those records are highly valuable. In Freitas’s living room, a coffee table was covered with recently acquired rarities. On top of a stack of 45s sat “Barbie,” a 1962 single by Kenny and the Cadets, a short-lived group featuring the Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson on lead vocals and, as backup singers, Wilson’s brother Carl and their mother, Audree. In the same stack was another single – “Heartache Souvenirs"/"Chicken Shack,” by William Powell – that has fetched as much as $5,000 on eBay. Nearby sat a Cuban album by Ivette Hernandez, a pianist who left Cuba after Fidel Castro took power; Hernandez’s likeness on the cover was emblazoned with a bold black stamp that read, in Spanish, “Traitor to the Cuban Revolution.”
  12. Only ever found 4: Mary Wells Isley Brothers Marv Johnson (that was a tough one to find!) Isley Brothers (different from their other one) Only the Isley Brothers L.P's contain previously unreleased tracks. Anymore on Starline?
  13. Years ago I saw a 'Detroit Soul' CD, can't remember the title and it could have been a home made job but Al Green was featured on it with 'A Lover's Hideaway' (HLMJ). I have most of his HLMJ 45's, but, the 'Back Up Train' L.P I have is on USA Bell with a different cover to the HLMJ release.
  14. I have one, EX (few faint surface marks) nice shine on vinyl, great labels. £10 post free....any good to you?
  15. Nice one, it may have come from a soldier then! My father was stationed over there during the 1950's and married my mother who was a local Maltese girl from Sliema. I have picked up a few Italian 45's from the Island including a couple by Rocky Roberts and a nice 1960's garage thumper 45 from a local band that belonged to my mother.
  16. I suppose it's like going into a shop, picking something up, humming and haring about buying it then putting it back. Agree, a nice simple 'no thanks' would suffice.
  17. Had 4 messages regarding the spare box set. In the proper British way I will sell to the first person who responded and that is 'kevinsoulman'. Thanks guys.
  18. How much are the good looking boots going for nowadays?
  19. Well, I'm extremely happy with mine! More due to the fact that it cost me nothing!!! I ordered it from Amazon for £42 and duly paid with my credit card, a few days later I got an e-mail saying that it had been cancelled and no charge has been made to my card. Imagine my surprise when the postman brought me one around! Still no charge on my card and Amazon account still says cancelled?? Bizarre. Unfortunately, when I saw it had been cancelled I ordered another set from a different company but same price This has now turned up and payment taken which leaves me with a spare unopened set. Was thinking I might sell the unopened/sealed set on here for £35 post free. Any takers?
  20. Just be warned, it was booted and it is a very clever one! Really difficult to tell a real demo from a boot.
  21. I have this. I wasn't aware it was booted.
  22. I have The Masters on Crimson, great double-sider. I also have The Masters on Dellwood '(I'm) Just A Man In Love / I've Made A Mistake' 2 more great Northern Soul sides. Is this the same group?
  23. This must have been mentioned on here somewhere but I can't find any reference to it? Anyone got a box? I see Amazon themselves have already pulled the plug on it as more complaints just like the last one!!!
  24. I have one Neal. Black with the Chelsea logo three times. Is this the one you're after? If so, what 60's sleeves (US) you got to trade? It's in good condition, no rips. John
  25. Didn't know about these until I read this thread. Could only find Mick Smith selling a copy and duly purchased!!
