  1. Ha, I know there is an L.P track by Paul Jones (Manfred lead singer) that is quite good (crossover type thing) but that 45....no, no, no, no, no!!!
  2. I know it's a bit of a UK Mod anthem but was 'The Quik - Bert's Apple Crumble' played on the Northern scene?
  3. Noticed that Bettye Swann is credited as writing 'Elijah....', so is there a vocal to this awesome slab of soul?
  4. My copy is styrene and has those numbers psamsara listed but with a delta number 97939 and a Monarch stamp. It also has 'Dist. by Malynn Enterprises, inc.' on the label. It's got fabulous sound quality but I presume it's a boot/second issue?
  5. I have the 45, but that is some piece of memorabilia!
  6. Nice bit of 'Mod' soul that Gouldman tune. Bet it's expensive!
  7. Think they all are original, just different pressing plants I guess. Edit: see here: https://www.45cat.com/record/nc883728us
  8. Are you sure it's not the other way around Chris? I have the boot and it's fairly flexible/flimsy.
  9. I read somewhere that Eddie Spencer was a Jamaican, don't know how true that is but that would explain it being cut in the UK.
  10. Tell you what though, I bet you'd get a few bob for that boot nowadays? I've had it in my collection since the early 80's and it's good quality sound.
  11. ORIGINAL...(title on 1 line) Boot... (notice title on 2 lines) CANADIAN ORIGINAL...(title on 2 lines but differs from boot)
  12. From Tim Brown today... The Bank Holiday continues with our latest list of rare soul goodies comprising Northern, Modern and Funk. Our latest auction items are also indicated and will be 'live' on the website this week. Many thanks to those of you who participated in August's auction, with prices achieved of over 4k for The Tomangoe's and nearly 2k for Candi Staton, it might be opportune to remind customers that we charge only 12% to offer auction items for you (and this amount includes VAT). Apologies for the mix-up over Rufus Wood, obviously we did not accept a £500 bid for this 2nd issue. We wonder if the same thing has been offered to the unfortunate individual who 'won' the Rita Lee 2nd issue for £822.00 on Manship's auction! Let us be clear on this one.... Both the Rita Lee and Men From Macon (the instrumental) versions of 'Salvation' are originally on a yellow/greenCharay label, exactly as per the more-often-seen Robert Thomas. Both are very scarce, in fact, I've not seen either for sale since buying them in 1976. The re-issues of all the above were commonly available in shops in 1975 at less than 60 pence!
  13. Booted as 'The Magicians' on a lookalikey label, good quality though.
  14. So is Rita Lee the same person as Cressa Watson? This lady?...(and a friend of Bowie)...
  15. There's a BIN on ebay for £30...ok label may be a bit rough but vinyl looks fine. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/The-Festivals-Youve-Got-the-Makings-of-a-Lover-High-Wide-and-Handsome-HEAR-/111747602961?hash=item1a04ad1a11
  16. Well, if I was John Manship I'd dig some copies out and put them on next auction! I'm sure I have one in one of my boxes....
  17. I have that Rita Lee white with purple print, astonished! I'd take half that for mine!
  18. Bit here, but not really clear as to whether it's a boot or not? https://www.45cat.com/record/nc717543us
  19. Same as Willie & The Hand Jives which is Soul. Yo Yo's is a nice garage version.
  20. I love CMHO, it is their best Northern tune by a mile, a bit less 'poppy' than their others. The stop start fade out gives it a bit of charm too.
