  1. I've just posted a photo of the group on ABTS 'Blue Eyed Soul' thread.
  2. Just came across this photo on the net 'Al Williams & The Assembly Of Soul' ...so, is this the Detroit (La Beat) artist? I've never seen an actual photo of our Detroit guy. BTW: This is the site I got it from.... https://www.williamslakedanceclub.com/bands.html
  3. There is a version of the Nooney Rickett track 'Sad Tomorrows' on a Trini Lopez 45 (Reprise 0328) 1964 and on an LP 'The Love Album' (Reprise 6165) 1965
  4. Just doing some digging and I found out that The Majestics / David & Ruben '(I Love Her So Much) It Hurts Me' (Linda 121) were actually The Romancers (also on Linda) with David & Ruben Robles. More 'brown-eyed Soul' rather than blue as these were Mexican/Hispanic/Chicano artists. To confuse matters even more, a previous outing by The Majestics on Linda 111 'Strange World' was actually by an all black group called 'The Atlantics', this group featured Barry White! Strange world indeed!
  5. I have just sent for 3 45's from the States and asked the seller if he could record a smaller amount as I don't want to pay customs as it's a rip off here in the UK. His reply was "Well, I have complete worldwide customer satisfaction wherever I post to" .......so I'm reading between the lines that he's gonna come good for me? I'm going to refuse them if I don't get any joy and they can be returned for a refund. I AIN'T PAYING IT!
  6. 'Marvellos' did well! I always thought this was a £60-100 record! Just shows how behind the times I am
  7. Yeah, he sure could dance! I only just (last week) purchased his album on Chess from 1967. 'I'm In Trouble' one of my fave blue eyed Soul tracks. RIP big fella.
  8. I thought the Soul Tribe Canadian 'Groove City' re-issue was an alternate take? So must be at least 2 takes?
  9. Des, I'll have Len Barry, Anthony & Somophores and Jeff Barry please. I'm UK. John
  10. The Hesitations 'Soul Superman' album, just to feel that magic Detroit Soul sound!
  11. Ha, I just googled it and got 'Under the frogs ass'....
  12. She was indeed an Italian beauty.
  13. Singers were top notch I thought, 'Time' & that F. Wilson tune sung with plenty o' soul I thought. It was just a bit of fun really. My 11 year old daughter thought it was great.
  14. It is random 'pot luck'. My postie told me they just pick out a random parcel of $15 value or more.
  15. Well, you're right. Missus always has it on and I didn't hear Frank Wilson & Co once!
  16. Yeah, I'll give you £20 for Strangeloves just to take it off your hands
  17. My aunt peels off un-franked stamps from letters and parcels she gets where she works, she often sends me a load of peeled off stamps. I got a customs charge of £15 a few months back so I glued on the amount in used stamps onto the request card, they accepted it so I got my own back . Karma!
  18. What gets me laughing to myself is white middle class kids on X Factor singing Sam Cooke's 'A Change Is Gonna Come' , and it happens a lot....now that song IS about a black man's struggle.
  19. Gene Serina was a member of the Lost Souls who themselves had a Northern biggie 'I'm Your Love, Man' on Glasco. Didn't realise he'd passed away.
  20. A good one on the 'Looking Back' LP is this double sided beauty from Mr. Floyd....
  21. I have that Polydor album you speak of. I bought it for about £20 mainly for the Cody Black track as I though "ooh, that's it's first official UK outing". I was very disappointed when I played it, all the tracks emerge together as one long continuous play and some are cut short. Was you disappointed Dick? Regarding the Primettes, Eddie Floyd and Al Gardner LP, the reason they are brought together is because they are all early Detroit recordings from future big stars (obviously Primettes became the Supremes and Eddie Floyd had a few great hits).
