  1. It WAS booted (but not on original label) in the early 80's It was backed with Bobby Bland 'Shoes'. Think the label was 'Moon Dust' and I know i've got one knocking around somewhere. Agree with Baz, looks pretty good....but a bit shiny, if seller say's it's a re-issue (or boot!!!) then presume it must be, in that case not worth £40+ what he's asking for it! There are several new lookalikes of other stuff turned up recently (Chuck Corby, Five Royals etc).
  2. Great version of ...Adams Apples was it? Love that groove(y) organ! Is this an Aussie copy then?
  3. Think they are going for a lot more than £50 now, sure I saw one on a list for double that! Great record!
  4. I got caught out, bought a 'light green' Incredibles 'there's nothing else to say baby' under the assumption that it was original (seller even stated this fact!)....even Manship's guide to bootlegs has conflicting answers, it actually say's "boots are an olive green" and originals are 'light green' which this was.... ...still turned out to be a boot though!!! Luckily I only paid £27 and not £79 like the Washpan eventually went for!!! If buying from a Uk buyer you have to be very careful as most of the 70s boots are over here, you're more likely to get an original from a USA seller (but not always, especially with newer stuff).
  5. Twiggy eh?
  6. white vinegar is the stuff, guaranteed!
  7. Ian Clarke has got one. Dont know his e-mail or web site but will give you his contact number if you're interested. pm me if you need his phone number ok.
  8. I quite like it too, as you say, in a 'strange way'...it's got that something different that can make a northern soul tune. Love the backing track. It's got that kind of lazy (almost drunk) vocal...bit like that singer on that big money tune 'Soul Searcher' on Bard (can't remember the name of the guy singing but he was 3 sheets to the wind!). The lyrics are naff though, "baby goes walking on the moon..." oh please! Who is she? Off hand, can't think of a 'crazy' tune at the mo but will get back when one comes to mind.
  9. All for less than the price of a pint!!
  10. 'Up In The Streets Of Harlem' (Atlantic)........quality Northern mid-tempo!
  11. 'Loving By The Pound' is Otis' big Northern sound, previously unissued in the 60s....think it came out on a white demo but is on a cd which was released a few years back. Got played last Sat in Skeggy. Absolute stormer!
  12. Obviously sounds a bit dodgy...geezer knew what he was doing of when he ordered a second copy! Keep one for himself and sell/trade the other to a mate or someone he knows is after it no doubt! Reckon whatever the tune is, he knew he was getting a bargain! especially 2 for 1!!!!! FIND THAT OTHER PROOF OF POSTAGE!!! Hope all goes well for you.
  13. yeah, I love it! Blue eyed and great! What's their other two on ABC like? I see they are valued higher than the one you mentioned....
  14. have a m cond. James Taylor. Do you still need it? want trades and will let you know what i'm after. pm me ok.
  15. Have a M cond Chuck Jackson. Only want trades though..if you've got any of these: Huns Review Vince apollo (pentagon) Thee midniters (youre gonna make me cry) Parliaments - heart Trouble Embers- Watch out girl (mgm) obviously will add cash too depending on value etc.. let me know.
  16. Have Chuck Wright M- but only want to trade, need: Huns Review (sorro) or Vince Apollo (pentagon) or Thee Midniters -youre gonna make me cry (whittier)
  17. Didn't someone on another thread say 'Neil Sedaka' had done a version?
  18. Untitled 2 - There ought to be a law...? definitely the title, not sure of the singer/label...sure i've got it on a tape somewhere, quite like it!
  19. Johnny wyatt - This Thing Called love - Bronco......does it everytime without fail, 100% guaranteed! Played this when it was a cheapie at Ely, packed the floor out and then went on to become THE track to have shortly after! Suppose fever for it has died down since, but it's still the one I pull out of my magic hat when things are going arse over tit.
  20. 'Soul Sauce' by Cal Tjader I suppose has some Latin/Spanish interjections
  21. Rocky Roberts did a couple more in the same vein...'Stasterra Mi Butto' is a furious uptempo stormer!! pity only my mum can understand it! It's on the flip of 'Just Because Of You'. another of his is 'Dove De Credi'...again, uptempo Northern. In 25 years of collecting I don't know of any other foreign language Northern Soul except for those Motown ones you've already mentioned. There must be some, in particular original tunes other than just re-makes of popular songs.......anyone else?
  22. Track 6 - Harrold Burrage - on One-Derful Track 5. - J J Barnes on Ric-Tic? Track 4 sound like Dionne Warwick?
  23. Yeah I got a 'Lively Ones'...great little oddity, I love these garage groups! Flip is also quite good, I know its something about 'bugaloo' or whatever, not bad at all. here's a couple more garage bands with northern appeal... Graduates - If I Ever Get Out Of This Mess I'm In (Rising Sons) The Bit A' Sweet - Is It On, Is It Off / Out Of My Mind (MGM)
  24. For a real soulful treat check out the flip of Charles Conrad & Soul Brothers inc. 'you got the love' on Shandy, an ok dancer... but the flip...'Isn't It Amazing' is a mid-tempo dream! Cheap too
  25. Went to Skegness All-Dayer yesterday (20th May)...had 4 to choose from the East Anglia/Lincs area (we're smack in the middle in King's Lynn)...Norwich, Cambridge, Kettering.....Skeggy was quite full, due to a forthcoming night here (15th July) the Lynn crowd split up to do some 'flying', some went to Norwich, we opted for Skeggy so we could dish some flyers out there
