  1. Well, it is a UK original if nothing else!!!
  2. Nice one Tone, i'm gonna check it out....can you post a sound clip of the First Generation as i'm having a problem with it? thanks, John (ex editor of ska/reggae fanzine 'Time Longer Than Rope')
  3. Just as I thought! Need to convert it to mp3 but am struggling...it's in my documents with media player.
  4. Hasn't come yet so i'll give my opinion when I hear it, going by the strength of that unofficial 45 though...surely it aint that bad Pete? Detroit mid-60's from the Pied Piper stable? And don't forget...if you get a copy of Huns Review let me know
  5. Look on ebay for the album, I just got one for $20...!!!!!! Thats about £12!
  6. Here's one I got from a boot sale around 10 years ago...it's Jamaican artist Bruce Ruffin 'Messin' Around' ...flip is 'Was I Just A Fool'....2 modern soul/ disco sounds from the mid-70's.
  7. quote name='Pete-S' date='Sep 3 2006, 11:20 AM' post='342361'] You couldn't post up a sound file of Give Him Up on disc 2 could you? I reviewed this as a cover up when I was doing my old fanzine Beatin' Rhythm, this would have been about 13 years back, it was on the B side of Dave Barker I think...superb track I thought
  8. Hesitations - Soul Superman (Kapp) Freddy Butler - With A Dab Of Soul (Kapp) Temptations - With A Lot O'Soul (Gordy) Leon Haywood - It's Got To Be Mellow (Decca) Leon Haywood - The Mellow Mellow (Galaxy)........
  9. Yeah, got that on Atlantic a few years back for £30. Great tune, so is his cheapie on Phil-LA - Soul - 'Love Is Alright' (same as Jesse James rarity).
  10. I've got a copy Alan, it's the flip of 'Choo Choo Ska'. Great soulful mid-tempo/beat ballad, i've been championing it for a while now. Glad someone else has picked up on it! John
  11. Also came out as blank white label...bootleg just like those unissued Motown jobs.
  12. Try and get them on here in the next couple of days ok Pete. John
  13. It's not rare...just in-demand. I've had it twice on red /silver writing, saw the orange one (styrene) for the first time on ebay the other day so that must be harder to get. Guess the white demo is hard too. Like I said, it's not a rare record, it's on ebay every week, just like Soul Brothers Six. In-demand. Check out 'When Your Love Has Gone'...another great one from the man!
  14. Home made jobbies Pete, I can send em' to you if you're interested?
  15. Well said Si, is that Bobby Hutton the UK ABC thingy with Willie Hutch on the flip?
  16. S'pose you can say the same thing about 'My Heart Is Calling'...only ever released (officially anyway) as a 45 on the re-issue of 'Because Of You' (around 3 years ago by expansion on Brunswick lookalike label?)...definitely worth getting for 'My Heart Is Calling' and can be placed in your originals only box!
  17. --> QUOTE(C.B @ Aug 29 2006, 07:40 AM) link For those interested in ska & reggae; Prince Buster used almost the same backing track for his killer "Earthquake" tune. Even had the same guitar intro. I'm gonna check that P.Buster track out! Bought the album 'Wanted One Soul Singer' just for that track! Cost me £40.
  18. I know it Pete, and I like it...it's Jackie Opel on Rio, think I stuck it on one of my 'Jamaican Soul' CDs. Sounding very much like Chuck Jackson's / Pearlene Grey 'I Don't Want To Cry'.....
  19. You're right Mr. T...I just saw a scan of an original issue and it does say that at the bottom of the label. Anyway, the delta number scratched in the run out groove is 103641,so suggests it's a 70's release according to Manship's delta table. Whatever, it's a great pressing and must be worth a few bob in the least! Anyone else got a copy of these white ones?
  20. Well, that was quick Pete...going back a couple of days ago (re- that shop in Norwich)...guess where I picked it up? In the racks as a boot @ £8! It's not stamped though, is a boot then?
  21. Na, you tell him Pete, you're good at it! And while we're on the subject, look at my thread i've just posted on Lenny Curtis.... ??????
  22. Had this several years and I know it's a boot / re-issue but just been on popsike and one went for £72 a couple of years back! Is it a legal re-issue? It's on styrene with stick on label and sound quality is superb...when were they released? Any info glady appreciated. TIA John
  23. Brilliant previously unissued! was it only on the L.P or did it come out as a 45? and..., are they the Funk Brothers?
  24. The one on Larry O is available @ www.soulspinner.com well, it was last week anyway. John
