  1. Some UK 45s actually come with the centres already professionaly dinked out, according to J.Manship these do NOT de-value the prices. There are several around on the Atlantic label, Stax, Liberty especially....I've had 5th Dimension 'Train Keep On Moving' on Liberty Uk with the centre done this way twice now. Anyone comments....
  2. That's the kiddies! Thanks geeze. John
  3. Great for the wall in the ol' record room! I see you said you're looking for 45 sleeves. Any idea where I can get those repro usa/uk 7" sleeves? You know the ones, Columbia, Island, Blue Beat, Imperial etc
  4. Joe Phillips.....got one a few months back, great beat ballad....atmospheric etc. Sorry I can't post a sound file up though. Will try tomorrow.
  5. If I didn't D.J then i'd probably only get them out on the odd occassion! It's the 'knowing' you have them and can give them a spin anytime you like that satisfies the soul! (sometimes)...plus the added bonus of telling your other soul collector mates..."look what I got".... Do I sound shallow??????
  6. I heard the same CD in T K Maxx Saturday in King's Lynn, as you say, the other tracks were'nt Northern Soul. There's obviously a store CD going around and whoever compiled it thought they'd stick one on for us lot!!!
  7. Nice one Mike , I see your point, should've mentioned about the circle and the darkness of the vinyl and it might have got over £2,000... Well done anyway. John
  8. If I knew how to get a link for the one on Ebay i'd post it. That's exactly my reason for this thread, whoever sold that record for £1,668 hopefully knows what they are doing, as I said, in the description it does not mention anything about a stamped circle, just says it has the right matrix numbers, well even the boots have the right matrix numbers!! The seller also doesn't state that it's heavy, thick (unsee through) vinyl..... hope the winner's got a real one!
  9. Two great breaks are in the middle of these... Eddie Holland - Outside Looking In (Motown) Robie Porter - That's The Way Love Goes - (MGM) (the break so epitomises Northern Soul!)
  10. See John & The Wierdest (Tie) on Evilbay yesterday went for £1,668..... my question is, how can the buyer be 100% sure it's an original, I mean, the seller claims it has the matrix numbers T-101-A triangle68365....well, i'm sorry to say, so does my copy and I bought it twenty odd years ago for about £5 and was always under the impression mine's a boot. My copy looks absolutely identical in every way to the one sold. The thing that puzzles me is the seller does not mention the stamp that should be there...a circle with AR stamped inside it. My copy has this circle but it looks homemade if you know what I mean and yes, it is almost see through when I hold it up to a strong light (J.Manship's bootleg guide), again, something the seller fails to mention. Anyone else on here got a boot? What's the score?
  11. As it was never issued over here in the UK during the 60's, i'd be inclined to say FIRST UK issue! Cracking tune, I love it! Never tire of hearing it.
  12. Wanted .. Del-Satins 'Baby You're The Fire' (Villa) old boot-leg/pressing from the old days with Checkerboard Squares on the flip.
  13. Some UK 45s do actually come with a US type large centre, lots of the red Atlantic's, Stax too, and i've had 5th Dimension's 'Train Keep On Moving' Liberty, twice with centre professionaly cut out. According to J.Manship, these UK 45's with professionaly removed centres are of the same value as those with full centre......any responses...
  14. Wow! Thanks Dave / Soulmac! How great is this site?.....gonna get a copy now. John
  15. Heard a great Northern tune by Mr. Barry White called ' I Don't Need It' ...can't find no reference to it anywhere, it's not on the flip of 'All In The Run...' or 'Tracey, All I Have'..... Someone suggested it was on an l.p only of his 60's stuff but can't recall.... Anyone help?
  16. Think the backing is identical to the Precisions version. Unissued apart from a (Joe Boy?) Uk release a few years back. Don't know if there's an acetate though...
  17. Great one! Mines on UK (Blue Bird)...1984
  18. Nice one Tone, i'm gonna check it out....can you post a sound clip of the First Generation as i'm having a problem with it? thanks, John (ex editor of ska/reggae fanzine 'Time Longer Than Rope')
  19. Just as I thought! Need to convert it to mp3 but am struggling...it's in my documents with media player.
  20. Hasn't come yet so i'll give my opinion when I hear it, going by the strength of that unofficial 45 though...surely it aint that bad Pete? Detroit mid-60's from the Pied Piper stable? And don't forget...if you get a copy of Huns Review let me know
  21. Look on ebay for the album, I just got one for $20...!!!!!! Thats about £12!
  22. Here's one I got from a boot sale around 10 years ago...it's Jamaican artist Bruce Ruffin 'Messin' Around' ...flip is 'Was I Just A Fool'....2 modern soul/ disco sounds from the mid-70's.
  23. quote name='Pete-S' date='Sep 3 2006, 11:20 AM' post='342361'] You couldn't post up a sound file of Give Him Up on disc 2 could you? I reviewed this as a cover up when I was doing my old fanzine Beatin' Rhythm, this would have been about 13 years back, it was on the B side of Dave Barker I think...superb track I thought
