  1. Gonna get one of those Wheelsville 119....
  2. Knew it!! Just didn't sit right...
  3. Dave's Lee Rogers up to Division 1 now? My Premium Stuff 45 in the Premiership Box!
  4. I'm not going doolally then! Someone on here knows the tune.....c'mon you lot.
  5. There's another superb stormer by the man on the flip of 'cracked Up Over You'....'How Are You Fixed For Love'...(Wheelsville). Out and out crunching Detroit Northern!
  6. I know one I heard years ago that went something like..."And Since I Met You Baby...(pause).....Sugar Aint Sweet No More" (last bit in deepish tone). I was always under the impression that it was the Precisions but then when I heard their's it was definitely not it! Can someone please help as I have been longing to hear it again but to no avail. It was a corker as I recall...am I going mad?
  7. Hi Paul, Album only - 'In The Groove' Tamla 285 (sometimes issued in the USA with different cover as 'Heard It Through Grapevine). 1968. Also, if you scour the boot sales, came out on a MFP Sounds Superb album 'How Sweet It Is'.
  8. Prices range from £40 - 70. It's the demand for the flip 'The Same Things That Make You Laugh'...so I was informed.
  9. Probably me being paranoid. Manship say's there are no bootlegs. Mine is a slightly darker yellow than the other stuff on the label, veering more towards orange, the others are lemon yellow. Side two is printed slightly off centre, and like I said, low-fi recording. I know there are white demo's with only the 'Sock Some...' side and not the brilliant flip. The guy I bought it off had it at least 15 years too.
  10. Lee Rogers - 'Sock Some Love Power To Me / The Same Things That Make You Laugh' - Premium Stuff Bought this a while back for quite a few quid, when it arrived was a bit unsure of it's 'origin'....different shade of yellow than other Premium Stuff labels, quite a bit of dead wax in the run out grooves, label title a bit skewiff on one side, recording low-fi. Strangely enough, i've only ever seen copies for sale in the UK, never seen one from a USA seller yet....it's listed quite high in the price guides but no mention anywhere of it ever being booted. Macca (on here) said his copy was the same and others he's seen are too, but they are 100% originals. I'm still not convinced, anyone know anything about this 45?
  11. Interesting, I tried to e-mail Dave as regards to buying a record off his list, got no reply at all, even after 3 e-mails!! A mate of mine also reckons you have to post to Japan because that's where Dave now lives!!!...All I can say is GOOD LUCK!
  12. According to Roger Dalke's series of 'Record Selector' books (well worth getting if you still can), the instrumental track 'Never Again' WI 253 (and the Millie l.p) is definitely by 'The Sound System'. I also remember finding out another way but can't place how at the moment. Very authentic USA soul sound that's for sure! Are you responsible for the Roots Knotty Roots publication? I was involved with the 'Scorcher' Ska/Reggae price guide about 7 years ago, as well as my own fanzine 'Time Longer Than Rope'.
  13. Slight name slip, sorry, it's 'Sound System' and they are credited with Owen Gray on Island WI 258 (red/white) 'Take Me Serious' / 'You Don't Know Like I Know'. Two good dancers, one obviously a version of Sam & Dave, the other a nice original soul tune.
  14. It's a group named the 'Sound Syndicate'. And you're right, it's a UK recording. They also turn up (this time actually credited) on an Owen Gray soul side on Island.
  15. Got the same problem with mine, think it may be a pressing fault??? I bought it mint off Soul Bowl many moons back, quality of sound is not that great.... anyone else got the same problem with this 45...?
  16. Ahh. That's interesting, have to check some of my other stuff. Btw, is that Contours tune on your pic available on vinyl yet?
  17. Again, another one with a crap USA cover (a red carpet...that's it!)..... Contains the fabulous 'Think About The Love We Had'.
  18. Passed the Four Chaps by many times thinking it was just another mundane cheapie.....decided to buy one when I saw it for about $5 (£2.75)....WOW! I thought exactly the same as you Coddy boy, brilliant piece of Soul music....the backing is absolutely awesome! Blue Eyed I believe. Btw, the flip has got to be one of the worst tunes ever!!!
  19. About 5 years ago, I received a CD of unissued Motown stuff from a good friend of mine who has a great contact in the States. I've had unissued stuff from him before on tapes when CD was'nt invented! Anyway, to cut a long story short...'My Dear Heart' is on the CD as EDNA WRIGHT...apparently Rita's sister.....
  20. Thanks for that Philippe!! Great stuff.
  21. Thanks for that info. Not useless at all, interesting facts. I read on an album sleeve (Northern Soul Story 7) that John Oates was a band member, also suggests that the band were of mixed race so I guess not 100% blue eyed soul then! It's a great little tune aint it. Love these kinda tunes, especially when there's a 'fame' connection. Like you, i'm looking for one at the right price (whatever that is).
  22. Basically, Marvin & Kim are actually sitting in the chairs, as opposed to two empty seats! I do normally collect USA L.Ps, but these 2 albums are just better in the UK format.
  23. Yes, only came out on UK. Came out as different title (My Guy) and not so good cover in the USA but same set of songs. Fab on the UK issue, great cover!!! Also, look out for Marvin Gaye & Kim Weston - 'It Takes Two' UK release l.p....far superior cover than the bland USA one!
  24. Reasonable price for this (blue eyed?) dancer...
  25. Seen it on ebay once or twice, maybe someone on here will have a copy for sale for you hopefully, good luck. John
