  1. Obviously in Japan by the looks of him and the young girls walking past. I can't hear no sound though? What's the tune?
  2. Thanks for that! Went straight on Gemm and bagged a copy!!!
  3. We used to do a similar thing to Willie Mitchell's 'The Champion' & 'Secret Home'. It's old fashioned stomping! Looks good with the right 'stomp stomp' beat though!
  4. Good boy Johnny! Personally I'd buy some big ticket items that I really desire, and have a nice D.J box....but with today's over inflated prices 16k won't go far. There are still some great 45s to be had at the cheaper end Johnny will be better off getting a collection of those together. Well done Johnny, and a nice bloke too...did you see the tears in his eyes when the other contestants fell by the wayside.
  5. Love to hear some!
  6. 'Baby Call On Me' is a superb early Detroit dancer! Here's the 'Upfront' USA re-issue
  7. Doubt it, Barnaby's a female (aint she?). Anyway, de-to, agree with your list, thing is, these white artists injected a bit of Motown into their sets (cause' it was the 'in' thing). It's really pop but captured the Wigan crowd. Personally, I love Ray Merrell's effort!
  8. Anyone got a spare they wanna part with? Couldn't make it down there so need the 45 to add to the collection.
  9. Yeah, you're right...sorry, Kent '86 Horace's '88 ...I did say virtually
  10. Virtually the same year! And you've got the added bonus of the superb (never released before) Tommy Hunt - 'Pretty Part Of You'
  11. Don't we all!! No worries mate. Unfortunately, I only have 2 of these: THE BEST OF - LONDON 1967 (fantastic album! and rare) YOU BETTER GET IT - ATLANTIC 1969 (although label say's 1965?) John
  12. Would that be the socks n' sandals!!!
  13. The one's I listed are all UK releases.
  14. Some people have already mentioned the 'younger' and more enthusiastic crowds in the rest of Europe (Spain & Germany spring to mind). I know the scene in the USA is also 'younger'. Just makes you think that the scene is gonna survive (when we're all gone) outside the UK . Was actually talking to a couple of record shop owners yesterday, they claim the youngsters biggest wants are heavy metal & prog rock....but they are not prepared to pay high prices. They also tell me that rock n' roll has died a death..... makes you think....
  15. ATLANTIC 5043 - THE NEW BOSS (1965) ATLANTIC 587009 - THE LOVE YOU SAVE (1966) ATLANTIC 587053 - IVE GOT TO DO A LITTLE BETTER (1967) LONDON 8334 - THE BEST OF (1967) (CONTAINS 'I Wanna Be Free') ATLANTIC 588079 - GREATEST HITS (1967) ATLANTIC 588104 LIVE AND LIVELY (1968) ATLANTIC 588118 - SOUL COUNTRY (1968) ATLANTIC 588130 - YOU BETTER GET IT (1969) ATLANTIC 588193 - BUYING A BOOK (1969) ATLANTIC 40239 - FROM THE ROOTS CAME THE RAPPER (1972) MERCURY 6338093 - I GOTCHA (1972)
  16. Thanks for thinking of us Ohio, I have a copy now....but will still watch the one on ebay to see what it fetches.
  17. Not the same but a similar type of thing, I recently picked up 'Motown: The Golden Years' by Bill Dahl...it's a great book featuring all the Motown artists with great 60's photos. Back section is dedicated to the 'unknown' artists. There's a colour section with photos by Weldon A. McDougal III who many know as one of the 'Harthon' production team. He worked with Motown artists during the late 60's/early 70's. The one downside to it is the cover is awful (imo)...instead of using some stunning 60's pictures...they've opted for a few of McDougals (casual) 70's pics. If anyone's interested, the book is published by 'Krause Publications' (www.krause.com)
  18. Superb mid/down tempo, and the sublime breaks are great!
  19. Flip Charles Conrad..... now
  20. Wow! That's a great release. Love the tune, has monstrous potential. Never seen any Phillipino releases before.
  21. He's definitely lost them!!! Anyway, he's not interested anymore, don't even think he has one record anywhere in his house. He doesn't even come to our local Soul nights.
  22. Bobby Paris....ahh...I remember hearing this for the first time, going up the stairs and my younger brother blasting it out of the speakers! I knew then and there that I would prise it out of his hands with the temptation of a few marbles....
  23. Also the flip too Ady...'I Got Love'...what another Northern stormer!!! Presume this was unissued too?
