  1. Great selection, a man after my own heart...same taste too! Been after E.J & Echoes for ages but to no avail...
  2. ...groan. Anyway, found this one on ebay and believe it's the same group because seller say's they are a white doo wop outfit from Louisville, Kentucky.
  3. Completely agree with this statement! Even though I don't like your avatar Ian!!! (oh why oh why are you soooo much better than us... ) BTW Chris..don't get the orange boot...it's terrible sound quality, the orange atco distrubted re-release is superb but I bet you're looking at least £50 for that.
  4. According to 'modernsoulsucks' there are 2 or 3 different groups named the Sultans and I know one of them was an old doo wop group. These guys could be them but I don't know anything except the credits on another release of a Sultans group bears no resemblence to my 45.
  5. A mate found this in L.A, it's a nice R&B flavoured tune with great swinging horns and catchy lyrics. Someone has written on the sleeve 'oddball Kentucky group'. Vocal is very blue eyed. There's a tune by a group of the same name in Tim Brown's guide on the 'Knowles' label @ £200. Don't know if it's the same group or not. Can't find no info at all. Anyone know anything about them or this 45?
  6. That's a great site! Added it to my faves, thanks Shute. Rob, this site say's King 6119 (US)....is the one you've mentioned a UK release or later US release?? I'm confused...!
  7. Yeah, that's the one I'm sure. Now I know what I'm looking for. Thanks Rob, John
  8. Can anyone let me know whether Hank Ballard & The Midnghters 'You're In Good Hands' (a King cut I think)came out as a 45 or is just L.P only? Thanks, John
  9. Hey Simon, can I ask a stupid question? I've loved this sound for years but always been confused by the 2 artists, Frankie Karl & 7th Avenue Aviators...... are they one and the same? Or is it 2 different cuts?
  10. Wow! You'd swear you really WERE in the 60s!!
  11. Impressions ....album only I think 'This Is My Country' (Curtom).
  12. 'What's That On Your Finger' - Kenny Carter (Stardust) 'I'm A Lover' - Tommy Hunt (Stardust) 'How Do You Feel Now' - Big Maybelle (Stardust) 3 great tunes!!
  13. Thanks Kev but I reckon other soul-sourcerers beat me to it, they are sold out!! One thing though, I did add your last played clip (Marvin Gaye unreleased) to my playlist...thanks for that!!
  14. Want this CD and can buy one for £13.99 (that's HMV prices!!)...just wondered if anybody on here can do one any cheaper? Here's hoping John
  15. Yeah, a bit like 'Motown'...just a label like 'Blue Beat' but everything that sounds like that stuff named as that! What's the forum address mate? I'd like to join, do you know a fanzine from a few years back called 'Time Longer Than Rope'? I used to write that. Used to base it on original ska/reggae releases from 1962-1973(ish). John
  16. The recent L.P threads have had me thinking....maybe fellow soul sourcerers can help me match up some L.P covers/vinyl only? There are a few in my collection that need one or the other to complete, this may help anyone else who needs something from my list too! 17. Good thing about an L.P guide would be that hopefully it'll highlight the best (Northern/dancers/xover) tracks. I'm an avid L.P collector and have many, many rare items, I would love to help out on info if any enterprising person(s) wishes to proceed with such a book. Done myself nearly 20 volumes of CDs on Northern album only tracks....and ongoing!
  18. Nice one on the Bra listings! Mostly soul sounds by the looks of it, the 001 (Llyod & Glen) is a cracking R&B tune! I see they had some mileage out of WAIAD...it's also released #503!!!!
  19. Well, it's titled as Philip James on the UK Island 45. The Bra numbers tell the story really, #201 Philip James ...#602 Blues Busters. Personally I'd keep the Philip James on Soul.
  20. Garland Green album is absolute tops! Mine was £10 (minter, still in shrink wrap) from Canada via ebay about 2 months ago!!!!
  21. How can you insult JESUS like that?!!
  22. Hey Mark! Can you tell him to contact Martin Jol/ Steve McClaren a.s.a.p
