  6. Turned 56 a month or so ago and to be honest I can recall DST rammin the floor at venues where it was played. I guess "back in the day" there were so many sounds being broken that filled the dancefloor. 20/20 hindsight is a wonderfull thing and I guess that not being there is what allows people to diss some of the sounds that we danced to. Having said that there were tunes that nobody would dance to (not for long anyway - once it was discovered what they actually were) even then (Footsee etc,)
  7. Same tune as Fuller Brothers - Times A Wastin' Jees I should know what it's called.......and I want to play to somebody now.......Can't think of the artist(s) either.....and it's doing my head in !!!! Please help ............ cheers

  11. I've read all the suggestions and agreed with many stuff like Eddy & Ernie Terrible Tom Eddie Parker but I think the fastest, bestest would have to Mike Post Coalition - Afternoon of The Rhino I know it's really a wannabe TV theme from the guy who wrote the theme for the TV series Cagney & Lacey but it was played on the scene for a long time and used to pack the floor it has got it all, massive beat, soaring strings, cardiac arrest
  12. Jees, that's showing your age, remember those tweesers in the kit to save getting ink on your hands I reckon every kid who ever had one of them only ever got to use it once before their parents binned it - ink every bloody where. Those ink pads were raelly good for doing fingerprints with, of the cats, the dog etc. I remember the bollockin I got even now

  16. but that is a piece of advertising material presumably produced by the management of the Majestik as it seems to advertise more than one date / act and just the one venue. Look at the links I provided which are to "booking agents" so that you can actually book the act and you will see they absolutely do not try to pass themselves off as the real deal. By the way I have no vested interest in this issue, it's just that it seems to me to be an injustice to this group of four excellent singer who DO NOT attempt to pass themselves off as the real deal. To be fair they have little or no control over the advertising material that a promoter produces in the weeks leading up to the gig as they are probably touring in another part of the country / continent
  17. Just found a couple of links on the web - so who is advertsing them as the reak deal. The links clearly state they are tribute band. https://www.dansatak.com/artiste.asp?StageN...Tops%20Tribute) https://www.ukacts.com/asp/acts/index.asp?i...8&txmode=-3 https://www.lucasmanagement.biz/more_info.asp?current_id=57 this one (above) is their real management team I believe. You will note that they also advertise a drifters tribute act - it's actually the same people as the four tops tribute act but with a different set (or so I believe)
  18. Hi Y'all We have booked these guys for a club reunion in November, on the strength of their performance the last time we booked them (about three years ago). At the time they billed themselves as "The American Four Tops Show" and nowhere in their publicity material did they attempt to pass themselves off as the REAL MCOY. When we advertise we (always) will ensure that the ticket buying punters are fully aware that this a tribute act and not the real thing. Having said all that, they ain't that bad. We also last year booked (from the same agency) a Supremes/Three Degrees tribute act and they were absolutely brilliant, incedible voices. I sometimes wonder whetehr it is the venue (trying to fill the house) or the act's management/agents that seem to think that they can get away with advertsisng them as real. At the end of the day it boils down to how educated (in a soul sense) the punters are. Surely anybody with a passing interest in soul music woulf find it hard to believe that a ticket for the real ones would only cost a tenner - and seeing that they had recently been on tour with the temps (or what is left of both groups) and filled venues such as Manchester's G-Mex" what the hell are they doing in some small venue..... £10 to include buffet.... come on???? get real
  19. Excellent movie Picked up a copy in Tesco about 4 months ago Best 92p I ever spent
  20. Without a doubt THE best tune ever to come out of Motown is Stevie Wonder - I Hear A Symphony if you haven't heard it, you just don't know what you are missing
  21. I've also just noticed that I was somehow looking at https://members.tripod.com/SoulfulKindaMusic/database.htm which is the free web space from tripod HOWEVER you have migrated to soulfulkindamusic.net and gues what.........I've found the discography but I wanted the info yesterday......and within 15 minutes of asking........it was provided I was happy
  22. What the fucks it got to do with you where I looked, perhaps I'm just lazy and thought I'd let other people do the work for me !!!! ONLY JOKING CALM DOWN I also used google to search....... 1st three were https://www.wingaterecords.com/ COUNTRY://https://www.wingaterecords.com/[font...COUNTRY://https://www.wingaterecords.com/[font...COUNTRY - POP - ROCK - ADULT CONTEMPORARY - NOVELTY - CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN - BLUES won't be that one then !!!!!!! https://www.soulfuldetroit.com/web07-golden...-gw-wingate.htm This link takes you to the SoulfulDetroit Website (Oh and isn't it excellent), however the page you land on is from the Golden World Tour which mentions Wingate records at the very bottom of the page. But no discography. So OBVIOUSLY I had a look around the site (again) but could not find a discography. https://www.soulfulkindamusic.net/database.htm what a crap site this is (ONLY JOKING - CALM DOWN) Excellent site which I have visited many times, the page you land on has a huge menu down the left hand site and I can also see that issue No 1 of your magazine has a Wingate Discography. but for the life of me I can't find one on your web site (am I doing something wrong) So those were the first three hits for me on google. So what am I doing wrong !!!! that I can't find the complete discography.......obviously i looked further than the first three hits, but after a while you get to thinking that you're wasting time and that if someone else can point you in the right direction then how much time will that save. And I was right within few minutes I'd had a couple of pointers and a listing Nothing wrong with asking for help is there ???????
  23. Excellent thanks for the info I wanted the no for Concerto for Jazz Lovers - Sonny Stitt Awesome sound - turn that volume up

  25. I remember seeing Jackie Wilson, Jr Walker and Major Lance at the Pier. Didn't manage to get a ticket for the Major Lance gig, so I got myself a job behind the bar, started the week before ML was on, jacked the job at the end of the ML night. If any of you haven't seen the photos of Paynes Cafe Royal, Llandudno from the 70s click on the link below - the sites a bit crappy at the moment with loads of stuff missing 'cos I ran out of web space - didn't realise and was still tried to upload new stuff (dork or what ?) www.paynesreunion.co.uk
