you are missing the point again bridget,you stated that mw's was no longer making money exept for like say pilsley the soul nights run there.miners welfares was a place the old miners would go and have a game of darts and dominos even play bingo ,have a fag and a pint and generally socialise,and yes hse is a part of it ,these old folks now stay at home there only enjoyment in life was taken from them,since the smoking ban the welfares are dead as with many pubs a good example as mak states is leabrooks ,it was a thriving buisiness before the ban.the thing that pisses me off is just how many of you didnt attend soul nights before the ban,this country is being run by a bunch of idiots ,back in 1985 or whenever it was the miners strike ,the word was democracy what happened to that,what happened to people having a right to decide.and this so called hse is the very thing that has destroyed future soul nights at alfreton.so please dont talk to me about hse.

Give a big thankyou to the smoking ban it did a world of good to these already struggling pubs and clubs ,well done hse ,i think that people are not getting the jist of it yet ,smoking is bad for your heath ,drinking is too,these people dont want you going out,they dont want pubs or clubs they are the HSE a power more stronger than the police.they have the right to decide what is best for us

hiya mandy long time no see,ok the palais,i dj'd there on what was proberbly the 2nd to the last night,it was a great night too and as a dj ,one i felt really honoured to do,the guy running it was jonna from notts and to be honest the expences involved was unbelievable.the dance floor is very small now,if you got 350 in there it would be rammed.i think as a one off like alfreton it would go well,but as in soul there are always POLITICS (even if you dont want to get involved you get dragged in)and depending on who is running it determins who is dj'ing there,i will say nomore.anyway our good old HEALTH AND SAFTEY,is doing a good job of messing up future alfreton reuinions at the moment. yep ,it's andy for sure ,thats a old pic taken at alfreton i think ,i know i used it on flyers for alfreton and a cd,also we had a birthday cake with that very pic on ,made for his 40th ,anyway top man is andy ,he and tracy are two of the nicest people you could ever meet

save yourself some money,go to tesco and get some glass cleaner its about a quid a bottle ,usually blue in colour and in a squirty spray bottle,this is isoproponol based as pete said ,its the same stuff as these people are selling as record cleaner

hiya thanks for your kind words.yes 2006 reunion was a fantastic night,i feel that if i did a night in the main hall as it is now, people would be dissapointed in the place,and this itself would do more damage than good.but hey "look out 2008 here we come" once every things settled down at the leisure hopefully i might be able to do more than one a year ian

last year at alfreton ,i spoke with management regards the 2007 reunion night and at the time i was told i would not be able to use the room we was in,instead i would have to use the main hall due to refurbishments taking place.Anyway i thought thats not a big problem,we used the main hall on many occasions in the past,But on having a ride down to the Leisure Centre the other week to my amazement i found that the main hall isnt what it used to be,the ramps gone the balcony gone,the bar at the tops gone, infact all thats left is the main hall itself and the new balcony isnt going to be ready until early next year.In light of this i have made a decision not to do a reunion night at alfreton untill 2008 at that time i will be able to use the bowls hall as normal.Rumours are already circulating about Alfreton Leisre Centre being demolished this is NOT true,work to modernise the place is being done thats all. many thanks ian marriott
