  6. not sure what you mean by cheap as it is a rare one to snag these days.........anyways one on ebay at the moment BIN but not sure what the BIN price is. Hope this helps.
  7. Last weekend at Skeggy bagged my latest bargain......still had to pay decent cash for it (£140.00) but me thinks it's a little bargain...............Adventurers "Easy Baby" Stocker!!
  8. john dreveres - closer she gets
  9. Any tune that charts is "pop" yes? If it don't chart then and only then can it be singled out as whatever genre it finds itself in. Rare soul/ Northern Soul is what it is (in the main) because it never received the recognition we know it deserved. If Don Gardner had charted with "cheatin' kind" it would be a pop record......Yes?
  10. £6!! maybe about 15 yrs ago but even the not that rare soul originals are fetching min. £15/£20. It was i acting as ebay police on this occasion, i pointed out to seller it was not what he was claiming and if it was would be at least £400 + as it's one of the genuine rare unobtainable demo's......and always has been. To be fair to him he seemed concerned at what i was telling him and seemed genuinely not to know any different and said he would contact the buyer and leave it up to him what he did. Result in my opinion as i often get told to fu** off and mind my own
  11. Chris King owns the original acetate that found it's way over here........i believe, although when he plays it out it's never on that but mostly a carver of said recording. I offered him silly money for it not so long ago and was given a very kind but firm shake of his head with a cheeky grin pasted all over his face.
  12. Beat me to it!! West Coast styrene press. Got one myself mate.
  13. I honestly thought and still do that there are only 2 known combinations, but hey flick a tic tac and all that. Do all of you now still believe that Northern Soul/ Soul whatever you like to call it is NOT as rare as we once thought it was since the advent of the internet, i know i don't, it cant be can it?? In the great scheme of things the 45's are still seriously rare just not as so rare as was once thought.
  14. More than dog rare i would say.......before this one surfaced only 2 known copies. Mick H has one, as for the other i dont know......... incredibly rare chune and feckin awesome as well!!
  15. Foookin' hell only 14!! Big pat on ya back kid for having the bollocks to stick a PDD/ Grapevine/ CSP on the decks and then to put the playlist up with labels!! Quality!! Keep doing what your doing, the labels come when a job that pays well comes along, anything you get in the mean time is all a bonus. Don't ya just love it when fresh faced youth comes along and sticks the middle finger in ya face!!
  16. Must admit Ted it did sound like a long lost friend at life line on Sat. eve. Who spun it was it Butch? or A.D.? whoever sounded great!!
  17. Inspirations - Your Wish Is My Command - unplayed minter off of Greame Ellis around 82' ish. Never knew it but was told it was a steal at £7.00!! so i brought it...........any good??
  18. Past : Rushbrook / Ste / Searling ( In Order ) Present : Mick H / Nige Brown / Rob Smith / Ted / Ginger ( No particular Order )
  19. So with that view, let's say all avenues fail, fail in tracing writers, producers, ASCAP has nothing regarding it's licence holder, you even have no idea as to which label it would have been released on...........Do we just file it under "it could have been a contender" ? or do we let the people that matter.......the punters that listen and dance to otherwise unknown tracks hear it played out? Your view is very idealistic and purist view that as far as i am aware has so far failed and if it ever had been the way of things we would be missing out on so many tunes. Great in principal, unrealistic in reality.
  20. Mate the scene has not changed one little bit only the expectations of a few that feel that having a good night out is not good enough any-more, and where any dj that dares to plays anything that is not considered "kosha" is able to ruin what would otherwise be a cracking night........i don't get it, i really don't. As for carvers, i think they have a place where a tune has NEVER been issued in ANY way whatsoever and only exists on some obscure long lost tape from the vaults..........how else are we supposed to hear a particular tune if it only exists on tape??
  21. Think that you have actually hit upon something here Mace. Me thinks on thinking on it, you are correct in assuming that it happens only at "oldies" events...........hmmmm No answer as to why this should be the case though.
  22. I was just thinking to myself, as you do, "wonder if Dave is reading no alcohol at nighters stuff" never seen a man drink so much and still have a smile on his face, take a joke with a smile, and give it back with a smile..........top man!!
  23. Thats because rumour has it thats it's actually Smoky Robinson on vocals. Motown sounding songs : Sandy Winns "A Touch Of Venus" Tamala (Tamla!!) Lewis "You Won't Say Nothing"
