  1. What a fantastic night, saw loads of familiar faces, watched the show from the balcony. For over an hour she ( Sharon Jones) never stopped. Must agree with Soulfinger though there seemed a lot of people there just for a night out. A soulnight after the show would have just finished the night off:lol:
  2. Got mine as well:thumbsup:
  3. Things have changed so much over the years, (but it is supposed to be only three) Colin Curtis, Soul Sam and Shifty.
  4. Ten years ago my wife and I went to Cape Cod, Massachusetts for a holiday, we were walking past this very upmarket row of shops and came across a small double fronted shop selling only cd's BUT in each window hanging below each other from nylon cord were lots of Scepter Wand singles, Chuck Jackson, The Shirelles, Dionne Warwick etc. We entered the shop and there was a youngish girl at the counter, I asked if the records in the window were for sale, she said she didn't know as she only worked there, after some persuasion I got her to phone her boss to ask if they were for sale, "No" was the answer, I offered her a $100 for them all, same answer, I called her bluff and offered $200, still the same answer "No". So we left the shop, carried on walking and came across a shop selling vinyl (rather like Robinsons records in Manchester for those who remember) covering the ceiling were hundreds of singles fastend with staples. There on the ceiling was a copy of Major Lance Monkey Time, I asked the guy behind the counter if the records were for sale he said "No but if you want any you can have them" he handed me a pair of scissors and I walked a way with the single. You win some you lose some. Peter
  5. Never went to a "Soul Do" at the Hardrock BUT did go to see Led Zeppelin there early 70's. There was no seating and everyone was sat on the floor, whilst waiting for them to come on stage, music was playing over the PA and I can clearly remember hearing Stevie Wonders Superstition, that was one of the first tracks to get me into Soul as it was then. My ears were ringing for days what concert. Sometime later I also saw Focus (Jan Akermann, Hocus Pocus) there as well, but then there was tiered seating. Funny last summer I still had all the programmes with ticket stubbs attached and got a hefty price for them on ebay. P.S rit-tic love the Avatar badge, I have one myself in orange.

  16. One Sunday afternoon at the Ritz alldayer I decided it would be a good idea to stand on the rail that ran around the dance floor and jump off onto the floor, in doing so I jumped so high I smashed my head on a steel fire exit sign and cut it open (my head, not the sign), if anybody remembers John Grant (Dj) he helped me down to the toilets but I ended up going to Salford Royal hospital (as it was then) for stitches!!!
