There are only a certain no of nights a DJ can appear at there are only a certain no of venues a DJ can appear at there are a lot of good DJs out there and not all get booked every week some DJs are in demand more than others, so not all DJs can always come to a venue more than when he is asked to appear only if it is local to him. we have at Sweetsoul booked Dave Rimmer (dont expect to see him at my venue more than on the night as he lives a long way away)But will see him at places like the 100 club or Cleethorpes weekender when we meet up, Because I booked him to appear on his reputation,and because he is a good Charismatic DJ. The same applies to Soul Sam,Nige Brown,Sam Evans,Chris Forrest,Tats,Rob Smith, but some of them have popped in and said hello. as a promoter and DJ will have other local DJs who are as good as Dave to DJ, but like to give our audience a choice of whether they want to come and someone different to see. and differing across the board music same applies at Hornecastle we like something a bit Different, so we book accordingly.

Absolutely first class took me back to my teens and earlier even super back catalogue of film clips loads I hadnt seen previously and brilliantly put together and Narrated by Daltrey and Townsend only down side was Gallagher making his usual crass statements as if he had been there. IMO good stuff

Froggy went on to become the first jock in the country to take two sets of Technics 1200 decks on the road, using a mixer he had designed himself with a UK-based company called Matamp Super Nova. At that stage he had already toured the country with Dave Lee Travis, DJ-ing at his Radio One Roadshows and had gone on to present a regular 25 minute soul/disco session on the DLT show. Meeting New York innovators like Larry Levan took Froggy to a new level. Indeed it was the sound systems at Studio 54 and Paradise Garage, Larry was resident at both, that would prove the forerunner for the now legendary Froggy Sound System. Standard summer festival weather circa 2007 floods err floods err floods so the thought that, we can go and get wet feet,wet clothes, wet sleeping bags,damp tents, filled out caravans ,recovery vehicles stuck up to there axles pulling out stuck RVs and Motorhomes. Ambulances porta loos,hedge bottoms,dirty clothes no dry beer towels,mucky white sox. expensive beer and drinks, semi cold food,manky chips at exorbotant prices. and the poor promoter wondering if the last minute insurance he took out. covers him for acts of God, whether the artists are going to turn up,the rehearsals where shite,the backing band where late. Star turn has a bad neck and still in the states, if ticket sales are anything to go by,is my home remortgageble,etc,etc Yep bring It On, who knows a good company to subsidise and bring it to fruition. like cover all costs and let me keep all the money.or profits. £200,000 should cover it. now who can we get, Star turn,soul all ages Dells, Reggae Jimmy Cliff, Disco go on make up the acts you would like to see

AS one of an older generation Club Soul as we now call it. was of a type you never heard on the beeb Light programme ,we have to remember without the likes of Radio Luxemburg and the pirate radio stations playing the slighter different tunes we could only hear in the clubs and pubs we used to frequent,clubs and club rooms frequented by the youth culture of the 6ts sorrounded by low ultraviolet lights,walls covered in matt black paint in the function room and film projectors on the walls playing silent movies like Charlie Chaplin and the keystone cop chases and trying to match it to the music. dancing frantically to American music we used to dig out of the record shops of the area,the odd gem picked up from Valances,Syd Booth,Rediffusion,Selecta disc on Arkwright street in Nottm, we didnt have many imports in the 6ts but some of the music (IMO) will never be surpassed, so Northern Soul,brought to the masses in the 7ts, Was what it was, a name for the music played as Mr Godin said up north. Northern Soul the music didnt change just how we named it.

Missing the point its still happening a well known promoter is bringing bodies together and promoting them as The Spinners allegedly(have to say that as my source is awaiting contact from said promoter after he was asked to cease and desist.)WHY GIGS WHERE CANCELLED IMO Safe to say the Detroit Spinners will be in the uk sometime this year for an exclusive one of gig in 2008 wont say where yet,but I know the promoters will crowing loudly about this. Detroit spinners do exist, just not the ones who were supposed to appear it was a con to remove money from our pockets.

Is it or isnt it the Detroit Spinners I recently purchased some tickets for a now cancelled tour by the Detroit Spinners turns out to be a covers??????????????? band covers in the weirdest sense of the word according to a source close to the band they new nothing about such a tour and would the person concerned pay for my cancelled hotel bill. via Obodo who not only keep the fees but charge another 25 dollars cancellation fee. Just pissed off about the above another Northern Soul ripping off of the fans. there is Good News for Spinners fans but thats for someone else to pleasure you with.

Just hope they repack them correctly
