  7. list most from 72 onwards cant eveybody be wrong Hotter than July is an album by Stevie Wonder, originally released on Motown's Tamla label on September 29, 1980. Despite the wide critical acclaim for Wonder's previous works such as Songs in the Key of Life and Innervisions, Hotter than July was his first album eligible for platinum status, as Motown sales records before 1977 were not audited by the Recording Industry Association of America. This was his most successful album in the UK, peaking at #2 and producing four top ten singles
  8. both points of view have validity. and if you put yourself up to hear criticism, you should take the good with the bad, both view points are aimed at giving the paying person what they come for, although a sod or f off to any customer is out of order, as there are far easier ways of letting the customer down lightly, Saw Kev at Soul for heroes and he played a good set and the dance floor responded accordingly, I have got Sam apearing at The Next Sweetsoul and this is his third apearance for us as he does what he has done for a lot of years, entertains and mixes the old with the new and also pushes the boundaries just enough that people come back for more, But he does play requests if he has them and apologises if he hasnt, so Kev I Would book Soul Sam just to ask him to play a spot of which if you ask he will and does play known tunes Some of which where played by him first, And Sam doesnt come on Soul Source as far as I know, But he would be the first to acknowledge, its the dancers that count and that is who he plays for 1st and foremost. Kev pm and we will have you at SS next year as your spot did impress.
  9. Similar thinghappened to me recently only ever had probs before with a guy in NY but thats a different story Although it has some bearing on the case, Sold the guy in NY a record with Tracking to prove postage as thats what was asked for, Tracked item to NY then disapeared and never"alledged arrived at his address" 60 quid down and a record lost, Bought 2 from a guy in Italy a month and a half ago overcharged postage no probs only 2 dollars more than stated and still havent arrived tried 1 communication with seller no solution 2 paypal to chase no solution 3 dispute with paypal (you know money back from paypal if there is aproblem) no solution because he showed proof of postage"not neccesarily to me" he gets away with it I lose out on another 60 quid will not buy from Italy again and cant leave neg feedback as he hasnt done anything wrong say Paypal just cant prove to me where and when he posted records but gave an italian postage tracker which i cant access from the uk so salvo2001 (labelmusic@yahoo.it) has my money and i have no records

  18. Got the same problem at our place Run by a committee and the rules state that as its a members club and I lease the room for the night We are not allowed to advertise in the Press commercially and also the same goes for Flyering so we keep going with the help of the website and some falsification of words on the local radio station, like its the old church we meet at not the name of the club we operate in and also word of mouth. we hope people keep coming back for the diversification and differing musical tastes we play out. eg one month acrossthe board most of the time with the odd oldies night(March with Ian Gee) for example Sweetsoul old church on Kings rd Newark ng24 1ew for Sat Navs.
  19. Agree Mandy and having visited Edwinstowe welfare and seen how we are having to drag people in as the breweries are like chocolate fire guards and have there brains where there arses should be will not help promote themselves.
  20. Was built to welcome the influx of Geordie and Scotch Miners in the late 5ts and early 6ts spent many a night there and at Clipstone Welfare in my younger days. What a Shame Maggies ideologies and policies killed the mines and the communities built around them, and many of them in this day and age being Members clubs, its very hard to keep up with the rates and maintenance costs, to keep buildings and people usable, smoking ban was one of the biggest downers and add cheaper booze and nothing for the younger families to have any direction towards welfare life as communities and family life has disintegrated.
  21. Just adding me twopenneth Marvin Gaye "Darling Your wonderful" would top my ten rather nice piece of sweetsoul in there would also be Reggie Alexandre "Its Better" Kenny Shephard "What Difference does it make" Jr Walker "Sweet Soul" Temps "Stay" in there somewhere
