no bootlegs cant find the mark in the runout wax and anyway cant see it catching on aint got a needle and you need those cracklin sounds and occasional click, and that background hiss, you get from well worn vinyl. plus the mobile dj would have to transfer every various artist cd to mp3 and then down load and then delete all duplicates then add the current chart sounds copied from mtv, dont download just put your cdr on record from your satelite reciever,my daughter does.cheapest way to mp3 and make loads of ipod cartridges cos thats what he will need like this reply too long and time wasting need to get out more. Doug Toon won 2.0 crap performance, Souness must go.

On this particular Friday, my friend Clive and I were playing Monopoly until he announced that he was going to go home to watch Top Of The Pops. I didn't really want to watch it, It could get quite confusing with all this Detroit stuff, the Spinners and the Emeralds 9-(-7) Four Seasons - - - - - -The Night The big comeback single from Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons was also on it's way down from it's peak of number seven. This single had been recorded a few years previous for the Motown subsidiary label 'Mowest', and had been re-released due to demand from disco regulars. For a while this was my favourite song of all time (well it was until a certain big hit from Queen right at the end of 1975). Frankie and the boys would be back later this year. What disco version actually meant was that it was a longer cut of the track on the A side. James And Bobby Purify reached number twelve with an old recording that had been an American number six hit in 1966. Pretty ordinary song maybe, but another nice reminder of Summer days. Gladys Knight reached number 10 with this, but how could she have failed ? She had two elements of classic soul recordings in the title alone, 'Georgia' AND the good old 'Midnight Train'. Seriously, I remember this single being originally released towards the end of 1973, and listening to it by calling a number listed in the Record Mirror (best UK Music Publication ever). I wondered what had happened to it until it reappeared and charted. 35 Judge Dread The Winkle Man Judge Dread was having his seventh hit with "The Winkle Man" and peaked at 35. He actually said a naughty word in this one. some articles from his site, the comments are priceless. can i email him pretty please Doug

Sweetsoul Friday 8th July special guest GINGER TAYLOR Early start ,set up Thursday night to save time and then eagerly await the arrival of Wigan legend Ginger Taylor. We open early on the Friday night, everything is set up and as with Soul Sam in February and Dave Rimmer in May,we are hoping for a good night in terms of numbers slight drawback is that their are 2 Accidents on the aproaches to Newark, thus making the doors and people coming through a teensy bit slow. Jacko does first warm up spot, and plays his new buys to an ever increasing audience, Doug plays a couple of new motown tracks recently released on a Cellar full of Motown vol 2 Jez then does the first spot in full playing an excellent warm up to the man himself, Ginger arrives after travelling from his home to Newark in a little under 2 hours does the usual hello's that go with a world famous original DJ,checks the venue and with an exalting comment "This is a nice old fashioned venue, smashing Im going to enjoy playing here. Ginger started his set at 21.30 hours a little earlier than the guest DJ would normally due but having agreed to also do a spot at Lowton at 01.00 am he had to get away and with the traffic on the A1 and M62 beset with roadworks,he needed to get away asap,we neednt have worried he went on to play a cracking spot of current monsters and classic original Wigan Casino tracks the list is as follows no labels although every one was a vinyl original 01 If this is Love Precisions 02 Stick by me baby Salvadors 03 Gone with the wind is my love Rita and the Tiaras 04 Hurt on the Other Side Sydney Barnes Orchestra 05 Is it Love Baby Lanes ( female vocal Checker board Squares ) 06 My Life Joe Jama 07 Im Waiting Bill bush 08 Catch that Teardrop 5 Royales 09 Try my Love Tony and the Showmen 10 Turning my Heartbeat up MVPS 11 Im not Strong Enough 4 Perfections 12 Believe it or Not Nabay 13 Cant Escape Ritchie Adams ( at this point the pen broke so Gingers writings poor) 14 Dont it make you feel funny Joe Hicks 15 You left me Admirations 16 slowly molding ? Cody Black 17 When I feel the Need Marvin Gaye 18 Just a little misunderstanding Funk bros (instrumental ) went down a bomb 19 Somethings Wrong Chris Clark (alt take ) 20 Baby without you Danny Monday 21 Lester Tipton This Wont Change ( Jez Langley in awe of n original copy) 22 Say Something Nice to me Bobby Kline Doug Jacko & Jez droolin asked him to leave it 22 It will Never be Over for me Timi Yuro Ginger left the stage to a tumulteous round of aplause,Well deserved after playin an Absolutely excellent Hour of cracking Northen Soul/Motown . Quote "You have got to have me back " deservedly so as Newark is fast gaining a reputation as a friendly place to enjoy oneself. and Ginger did us proud. Off to Lowton for Ginger and I hope and believe he would be as enjoyed there as at Sweetsoul Club, Newark www.sweetsoulonline.co.uk Next up, after his Excellent Spot at The Whitby weekender on the Friday in the Modern Room. Andy Jackson with a shortened spot, and some great across the board Northern Soul inc. Hand it Over -- Chuck Jackson , Gene Chandler --Mr Big Shot , Drifters -- Pour your little heart out (fast becoming a major floorfiller in the North) the male vocal to Driza's "Pressure",,his fav at the moment 70's biggie Sean Oliver " You and Me " Angel Rissots version of the Temps " I want a love I can see" Finishing with the current Archie Bell PIR release "Where Will You Go when the parties over" and finally the last spot by Doug Hall inc a tribute to The Late "Obie Benson" 4Tops favs "Something About You " Since Yove Been Gone "Where Did You Go" and a couple of UK unreleased Tops Motown tracks from the American Released "Lost Without You "album "Sweet Was the Love" and "Deep in the Pit Of Your Heart" Ad to that Ronnie Mcneir "Sittin in the Class" Frank Dells"He Broke Your Gme Wide Open plus Linda Jones beautiful "My Heart Needs A Break" Finishing as usual with a multitude of thanks to all and sundry for a great night. Sweet Soul Jr Walker, To all those who came many thanks to those who didnt or couldnt you missed a great night out. KTF SEE YOU ALL SOMEWHERE SOON. Doug Hall

Didnt have discos in the mid 60's used to go to "Clubs" King MOJO club Twisted Wheel club The link was made when some bright spark came up with the name Discoteque and they started naming new clubs Discoteques so America was brought to the UK once again. But the music came first. Another example Ronnie Scotts Club The 100 Club Mayfair RAF Club Soul RnB Motown where the fore front of the music in the Uk that was taken to the masses Cavern Club list is endless add a few bui must admit to not reading the review Doug
