  1. So played both the 7” stock copy 5:42 version back to back with the album 5:50 version… cued up both and started together fading in and out as they played along side each other. Have to say they just sounded the same to me. Happily stand corrected if wrong but just seemed like the LP version had an additional 8 seconds as the single faded the outro out sooner.
  2. This is basically the problem I have with ordering off JM… maybe I’m just unlucky but had quite a few orders cancelled outright over the years because the item was either out of stock or couldn’t be found (possibly misfiled) and one with multiple items had one record refunded because it couldn’t be located. Now before anyone gets over excited I’m not slagging the guy off just saying how it is for me. I’m sure there are punters on here who have been dealing with John Manship for decades and rarely if ever had a problem. Unfortunately I have and not had this issue with other dealers on this level (just the occasional cock up which unfortunately will always happen now and again). I’ve placed a couple of orders with him during this sales window as there were some great bargains. Not received either order yet and doubt I will get all the items ordered but not too fussed. I knew he would be overwhelmed so wasn’t expecting the records to be posted out straight away. Sure the majority will arrive in the not too distant future and any that can’t be found will be sourced elsewhere. Overall despite some problems now and again I always find John Manship worth dealing with.
  3. I’ve got the original USA 7” stock copy which is 5:42 long according to the label. The 7” promo issue is a shorter 4:18 version + have the LP as well which is timed at 5:50. No idea if the promo version is a different mix or just a shorter edit. Not heard the 12” so no idea if that’s a different mix though it looks like it may just be the same version as the LP possibly? Both the 12” versions from 81 + 82 are both shown as 5:52 timings on Discogs. Gonna spin a few later so will dig out the LP + 7” and compare… As already mentioned the more recent Jackin’ Disco 4 is just the radio edit of Shapeshifters “Lola’s Theme” backed with what looks like the 4:18 JT promo version of “What About My Love”. Got both the Damaris and Dave + Maurissa cover version releases as well but still can’t beat the original for me.
  4. PM’d you 2 days ago regarding this but not received a reply… can you let me know if this is still for sale please? Thanx
  5. Yes had the same problem several times over the last couple of years so I don’t bother ordering from his Discogs listings as many of them have been sold but not deleted from his inventory. If you see something on there it’s always best to check on his website and search to see if it’s still available as his website is far more up to date.

    A RAVE FOR DAVE #3

** PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT AN ACID HOUSE TYPE RAVE EVENT! ** UPDATED THURSDAY 24TH OCTOBER: In memory of Dave Frost fellow DJ who used to run Red Telephone Records in Walsall. 11 of his friends will come together to play an eclectic freestyle mix of mostly dance music across the musical spectrum which will include classic house, hip hop, soul, deep house etc. Think more melodic and soulful grooves rather than banging techno or cheesey commercial top 40 dance fodder. This will be the 3rd commemorative event and is free entry. All welcome whether you knew Dave or not to help celebrate his life… DJ order of play is as follows: Baz King Col walker Tim Abbott Colin Joesbury Nick Coyne Sonny Chohan Iain Badger Tall Paul Skelding Den and Paul Mason the Red Telephone All Stars to play final set to end the night
  7. Yes the track was actually the B side of her 1st single “Rebel” and easily the best song from her 3 singles to date for me.

Just a quick update for you… we managed to raise a total of £1148:97 as a result of both online donations and cash put in the collection buckets over the two days. On behalf of everyone involved I’d just like to thank everyone who came down to the event and of course all those who generously donated to a worthy cause. Should anyone still wish to make a donation to the Young Lives Vs Cancer charity you can do so online here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/stephen-lunn-1716407081196?utm_campaign=lc_frp_share_transaction_fundraiser_page_launched&utm_content=2f364efd-de1a-4a65-8923-1cf470135ac4&utm_medium=email&utm_source=postoffice&utm_term=1716408346703#timelineUpdates
  9. On the odd occasion I’ve had to make a claim I’ve never had a problem as I always make sure I use an adequate service with the correct compensation level for the value of the item and always keep the posting receipt for a couple of years to avoid possible Paypal “charge back” scam claims etc. Can’t see the problem here. So long as you have the original posting receipt Royal Mail should honour the claim provided that you have filled in the claim form correctly and provided the standard details they ask for such as photographs of the damaged item etc. Should you have to take them to the small claims court it’s highly likely they won’t defend the action due to the costs involved for them and even if they did you should win as long as you can show you have followed a correct line of procedure. Good luck hope you get your money back.

  11. Please PM to purchase payment by Paypal standard and no quibble refund in the unlikely event you are unhappy so long as you pay for return postage. All prices include delivery within U.K. 1) Mary Saxton “Take My Heart” on Canadian Quality Records NM condition I’ve owned this from new, bought from Soul Bowl back in the day. Been sat in the box unplayed for nearly 40 years - recently cleaned and stored in an anti-static inner sleeve to prevent paper burn + scuffing £75 delivered in U.K. Genuinely played no more than 5 times from new please see photographs of actual records at end of post… 2) Bobby Wells “Let’s Copp A Groove” USA Romur 1st issue advance release special DJ copy nice and clean in at least Excellent condition £55. 3) Melinda Marx “What” USA Vee-Jay mostly plays excellent all the way through but downgraded to VG only due to small semi circular mark shown in photograph that causes minor click several times (does not overpower the music but it has to be mentioned) £35
  12. If you just buy soul stuff then granted it probably wasn’t the most interesting list of releases. I only bothered with the Winfield Parker 7” “I Wanna Be With You” which I believe was a limited pressing of 1000 if the blurb I read was correct. Was unable to visit the shops on RSD due to work but picked one up easily enough on the Monday night online sales. Still plenty left should anyone of missed it both in store + online. Hope those who queued on the Saturday managed to get most of what they wanted…
  13. Remember Soul Spam no playing any of that “Norvern” upstairs
  14. Shame it’s got to be switched as this means I’ll have to miss my first one since 2022 due to being away in Berlin. This also clashes with Aldridge Soul Club night but if the usual 2nd Friday slot isn’t available then I guess there’s very limited options due to the many other events at the venue.
  15. Another 7” I think is worth a mention is this from January:
