  1. I'm sorry if I took it the wrong way aswell...was very late. There really isnt any policy for this event except for everyone there to have a good time. As for being a 'proper soulie' think I'm out on me a*rse on that one, can't get out to events every weekend, due to work/family/money commitments...don't give a monkeys whether anyone else likes the same music as I do...but generally like a little of everything....but at my age preference for beat ballads and two steppers prevail Don't have any set clothing pattern, wear what I feel like on the night...not bothered what anyone else is wearing either...each to their own. My whole attitude is one of 'Live and let Live' lets just get on with the reason we're all here, enjoying the music
  2. Emmm I can't see whats so funny either...but each to their own I guess The flyer says what the event is all about...basicly just a nice local friendly do...all welcome ...no music policy and no attitudes...whats so wrong with that?
  3. Oh well enough said then
  4. Get well soon....thoughts and prayers with you

    bourne for soul!

The all new soul night for Bournemouth!
  6. Even Nige who loved this would have roared with laughter...must admit used to annoy him by singing this very loudly with dreadful lisp
  7. Agree it is a fantastic site...imformative and helpful....a lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes by all involved and it is appreciated...hope Mike reconsiders and stays
  8. Blimey 15 a month.....think we get one every month or less
  9. Its the last one of ours tonight...not promoters fault ,,, the hotel has been taken over. Having said that its got from being a monthly do to bi-monthly and think the guy has just lost heart. Have been when there has only been bout 15 peeps there including djs etc People that go are mainly locals who don't really travel too far from home Don't want to knock the guy who runs them but it got to the point he didnt even advertise who was on as he reckoned it wouldnt make any difference Oh yeh location of sunny Bournemouth
  10. Remember asking Mr 'gentleman' Rimmer for a request...did a deal with him...i would sit with his records if he would play my request....sure enough he played it only for dopey here to realise she couldnt go and dance to it
  11. Damn am away next weekend so will have to trust the sprogs to record it for me...enjoying tonights show anyhow
  12. Yep Steve thats the one
  13. Oooh if this was the lovely Jase Bessants set then he plays some superb stuff, always tries to play first set so he can spend rest of the night dancing
  14. I take it you didn't stand too close to Mr Shaw when he'd been at the apple juice and decided that a spin was in order Human skittles? He was the bloody original bowling ball!! Personally I thought the whole idea of going to a soul venue was to enjoy yourself, and yeh with the proviso, no-one or their property gets hurt, I don't mind people having fun.
  15. Err I thought (not that it counts for much ) that it was absolutely hilarious, not once did I think the piss was being taken out of the scene. Having only just rediscovered my sense of humour after a particularly bad year it was just what I needed. My 15yr son, who, without any pressure from me, has taken to playing MY music, as he calls it, thought they were bloody brilliant, and 'can we have them at the shop Mum, they'll go down a storm'
  16. Had call from Mr Shaw earlier...things are on the up...heart now beating regularly and out of ICU...now has to walk up a flight of stairs....then home time
  17. Forgot to mention how thrilled he was to see his ole bud Nige who popped in on Friday, Know you don't need thanking Nige but he was chuffed to nuts to see you
  18. Aww Dolly you know I will, but will have to make do with a gentle pat on the back for now..I know hes looking forward to seeing you all asap, so I'm sure won't be too long before you can give him that hug in person xxxx.
  19. Just got home....so latest update...Nige lots better today...being transferred from ICU to ward tomorrow fingers crossed...passed on all your lovely messages which he was pleased to get...even got a smile (hmm perhaps it was wind ) Grouchy now cos hes feeling better he wants to go home. Nice to hear that he'd had some visitors, Mark, Jase, Trace & Molly he was really pleased to see you all
  20. Went to see Nige yesterday, the operation did go well, slight hiccup when his lungs collapsed yesterday morning, but this now sorted. With regard his kidneys I was a bit thrown by news of his lungs so forgot to ask about how things were with them. He wasn't feeling at all well and was struggling to breath let alone talk. Phoned hospital today to see what sort of night he had and was delighted when his nurse passed the phone to him. Latest news being that he is feeling better than yesterday, obviously not up to cartwheels round the ICU yet, but any improvement is good. Off to see him tomorrow so will update after that
