  2. maybe a good few of the folks on the scene today dont know where to clap
  3. IMHO IF the music cuts the rug then it belongs in the main room if its dancable, its soul
  4. The Shag
  5. well bugger me , last night at Brighouse there was a couple dancing together to northern Rob
  6. a bit like when Dave the night owls bird got swiped at the Frobisher Wakefield , sent it back in bit by bit with ransom notes not sure if it had a holiday or two
  7. Dave. To get your venue going yes go for it eye catcher a must, after that if its good they will return so the flyer thing is far less important mate ,unless its not a regular event. Flyers get lost in a sea of flyers, dont put them on tables early they will get covered by hundreds more , When im out i will only ever pick one up if it catches my eyes and ive not noticed that venue before Rob

  11. Yes it did totaly agree plus dont 4get the wigansovulation and totp's . funny thing and poss proof when i first started on the scene before all these things took place there were about five guys in my area that did northern after all the commercialisation there must have been around *80* all if not most would have got a wigan membership went once or twice. * been there dun it got t shirt* one or two may have resurfaced in the last 10 years and since gone again. So my answer is no. However its a shame someone on the scene aint gone round venues and made one from most folks perspective of the scene Rob
  12. Agree Kev. It is impossible in many cases to get a venue for free advertise for free etc etc .If a charity do costs 5k to put on, then after costs were taken off a charity only gets 500 quid thats a better net return on the total outlay than many companies operate at Rob
  13. Nick and the Team top money raisers, funny you mentioned them was only talking to someone the other day about saying what good eggs they are . Rob
  14. Good on ya too Shane and Weston Park Sheff ill be paying you a visit soon Rob
  15. There are many folks out there Bogue that chuck a quid in a rusty tin so to speak and the money goes were its meant to go nowt wrong with that and nowt wrong with them doing it and good on em helping raise thousands ( it pisses me off they have to do it in the 1st place HM gov should get its hand in its pocket instead of the billions it wastes ). we help fundraise for a charity its part of what we do a (kiddies hospice) but the charity concerned are there at the event that way folks cannot throw accusations about (we know we have a few green eyed monsters out there waiting). like a cynical bunch of twats waiting to jump . keep your house in order and no fooker can have a stab at your back Rob
  16. very funny as this happened? here ya F###er you made me drop my box now look what you've done thats going to cost you rob
  17. raising money for charity his highly regulated for obvious reasons and can be a mine field for those concerned and the devil is in the detail how its done!! let alone just running a local soul do (how many actually keep books of account, carry public and employee insurance, pay the prs and ppl ,undertake a risk assessment) yes and again but in reality a buisness is being run and people employed however small a promotion if for charity, love of the music or for gain, be it infrequent or regular if money is being made or not. using charity as a cover would not cut no ice with the authorities if the shit hit the fan lets say a dj falls off stage or drops his records from the stage on to someone (heaven forbid) , the promoter is the employer of the dj and the promoter would be liable (now wheres the public and employees liability insurance where theres blame theres a claim, one of the reasons talc is banned in many dos) i know of someone who this happened to and got his ass kicked in court not soul related mind. how many provide ear protection for djs , silly isnt it "EDIT " oooh and then theres the PAT test for the PA system Rob
  18. nowt wrong with having a plug and western park too brill place to support too its the only way ,thats why we always post up for the charity we choose support Rob
  19. DJ For Free they dont have to do it Some Promoters not all mind say this is in aid of this and that ,but never does a cheque or thankyou letter from the relevant charity appear seen it many times over the years Rob
  20. Took the words right out of my Gob was going to mention that comp and thought i best leave it alone mind you best jock is also subjective too as with many who things on the scene Rob
