Big Records , Or Great Records Bought For Next To Nothing
I'm with you mace, never seem to get any records for cheap these days unless of course they've not quite had thier day yet, Rene Bloch $30, Ray Rodriguez $20. Although I have just seen a £1000+ massive soul record pass through the bay today for $0.99 I forgot to bid and the seller ended the auction early apparently he ended up selling it to his neighbour , sounds a wee bit dodgy to me. I'm working on it trying to negotiate a deal (fingers crossed)

If You Could Have A Second Room At An Allnighter
Totally agree with you on that one mate. I was there at the hot wax all-nighter and have to say the upstairs Rnb/Mod room was rocking. I love my northern + rare soul but everytime i ventured downstairs i was really quite dissapointed, Maybe these dj's have been doing it to long and have grown stale??? That's what i love about Rnb rooms they really mix it up from early soul right through to latin (as long as it all flows together nicely). The main factor about this night was the venue. It made soul/RnB music feel super cool! It attracted a good mixture of people younger + more experienced soulies who all mingled and danced creating a buzzing atmosphere (upstairs). The wardrobe is a very smart bar/club in a city centre with a kicking sound system the two things alot of soul nights/all-nighters lack IMO! If more soul/Rnb nights could find these types of venues which i know is difficult as sometimes all the bar/club owners think about is money also you've also got the massive problem of all the other 1000's of soul nights that are on which will always affect numbers. Venues are so important in getting younger people into soul music! Anyway rant over it was a great night and i must say the Rnb room definitely was the better of the two even with ginger taylor and keith money dj-ing in the northern room .

If You Could Have A Second Room At An Allnighter
Spot on with that Mr Pickles if the music is good why limit yourself with what you can play. I love my Rnb, Early Soul, Latin etc and would look to mix all these in when dj-ing. IMO a good dj will always mix it up, if you stick to one genre it all starts to sound very samey! Why not mix in oldies with underplayed soul followed by some latin, Rnb and funky soul. I say get it all in the mix, it's what makes a quality dj from a average dj!

Rudy Lambert - Jamboree - Junior
Up for grabs a failry unknown and hard record Rudy Lambert - Jamboree - Junior - VG - £120 (plays fine, little bit of background noise but I've dj-ed with it lots and it's always sounded great out loud) Very early sounding Popcorn dancer, Just to give you an idea it goes really well with stuff like Young Jessie - Brown eyes, Titus Turner - Coralee, Big Jack - Poor boy Song. It's that kind of early Rnb popcorn sound. I'm useless at soundfiles but can play it you down the phone if you're interested? Only ever seen 1 other copy of this which was a VG and went through ebay at about $190 it's on popsike. It's a very hard record! Pm if interested Many Thanks Callum

Just read parts of this thread and have to agree with you there mate very well put. Webby stop listening to tunes like louis neefs and start listening to tunes like JT Parker, Little Dooley, Jimmy Moore, Otis Lee, Tommy Andre and Sammi Lee all of which have massive Rnb influences then tell me you dont like Rnb . You obviously need educating otherwise you wouldnlt come on here making such ridiculous posts !

Who'sthe Daddy
Course they've got big tunes, If you're a dj you need to have big rare tunes IMO. That Little Suzie that KH plays is one of the best records I've ever heard. It's the way they put the records together and build the atmosphere which does it for me. Not wanting to contradict myself here but I bet if you handed them a 100 box of £20 records they'd still get the dancefloor rocking! Then the £20 records would double if not treble in price , that's how it usually works. Like I say propr Dj's, they can read the floor like a book!

Who'sthe Daddy
Only been into the scene for around 7 years and have done a fair bit of travelling and seen quite a few dj's along the way. The best Dj for me and what I mean by best is making me want to dance for the full 1hr/45 minute set would have to be either Karl Heard, Mik Parry, Mace or Hoss. I do like my upfront 60's, soul + funk + Rnb as you can probably tell from my DJ selections. The thing about these dj's which makes them unique to most is there ablity to mix it up from Soul right through to Jazz. They also seem to find new fresh tunes without any compromise on quality. What I would Call Proper DJ's not just people who can afford splash out on big money rare tunes that will get the chin strokers excited. If you were to put them in front of a audience who have no idea of what Soul/Rnb scene is all about and they'll still get the place rocking!

Same Seller! I nearly sealed the deal but couldn't bring myself to pay £690 or for that matter even £400. I'm pretty sure once the hype calms down I'll get one cheaper than that!
