  1. fucking hell mate...you won the lottery It dont get much beter than Gene Toones...the others aint bad either Callum
  2. So true mate...
  3. To be fair Andy Dyson is like an encyclopedia when it comes to records there aint much he dont know about or has had through his hands at some point, I suspect he did know about CJ for a while,he also sold a rough copy which plays fine of Vivian Jones to Bob Morris which features in most of his sets. Horses for courses - one's mans average light weight RnB is another mans classy detriot soul. One mans soulful mid tempo magic is another mans mid-tempo broing dross etc. No big real fuss just highlighting my frustration and tryign to make a valid point, I've chilled out now! Callum
  4. Each to thier own and all that! Personally I rate this record highly and would be confident i putting it into a set in any main room, well not any but most of the ones I travel too....When Hoss played at Lifeline the floor was rammed! Hopefully people understood the point i was trying to make. Callum
  5. Hi marc in relation to the Charles Johnson, positive it was Honky. I spoke with Micheal a few weeks back his second copy went to Alfie in Italy.... Will be interesting to see what the next one goes for...I had a soundfile of it covered up for about a year before it surfaced on ebay i was desperate to find out what it was but nobody knew anyting about it. Then next thing you know one goes through on ebay for about $800 which Michael won (now alfies copy) and Karl Heard spins it at the 100 club covered as J T Parker. After about 2 weeks the cat was out the bag and now seems to be the next big thing that alot of people was/are chasing. Chances of owning one now are pretty slim- champagne lifestyle, lemonade income Callum
  6. I disagree with you Benji....Vivian Jones like Marc has said is not a big northern oldie or played in main rooms all that often mainly becasue people just dont have them to play. So therefore to me I'd say it was a semi-known and therefore has potential to slip through slightly cheaper than usual. I'm sure they'll be a few collectors on here now who didn't know they record and now like record and are contemplating having a bid. If it's a pointless topic, why waste your time posting your thoughts Callum
  7. Hi Joan, Hope your well I'd rather put the work in on ebay and hopefully come across it rather than someone post a specific link on a Soul based web-site. If i dont stumble across it then it wasn't meant to be if i do stumble across it and people keep it to themselves it's a more even playing field because not all big wealthy collectors may have seen it ...slim chance of it slipping through but you just never know p.s - I've not been back home since speaking to you last about the cd, when i arrive I'll have a listen and no doubt be asking for for more info on labels prices etc. take care Callum
  8. Slightly different kettle of fish I would think as it's not an actual post pointing out a specific auction. You may stumble across a bargain in the ebay advert next to the thread. I know i have in the past Callum
  9. No worries mate....the cat was out the bag and i'm sure you'd of picked up on it as you spend most of your life on SS and Ebay. I could of waited till the auction finished but thought i'd make my point. I cant see you bidding on this though you're too bloody tight Callum
  10. I did state that the chance of a bargain on this one was slim as it already has 5 bids but surely you can see how posting something on an internet formum is going to raise interest or alert buyers who didn't initially see it on ebay. One person already on the thread has mentioned taht he now has a high snipe set and wasn't aware it was on ebay whcih backs my point up! Callum
  11. If it was a unwritten rule it should be brought back IMO...maybe something for the moderators to think about? Like you mentioned and i didn't think if this but it could be dealers/sellers helping thier friends push up the value especially these days as we are seing more and more american ebay sellers lisiting sales on Soul Source. Callum
  12. Great price...seen this listed at 200+ before.
  13. Is it just me or does anyone else get slightly pisssed off when people do this.... It always seems to happen with the big records but still I find it so frustrating, It always seems to be people who already own them or have acetates of them too which for me is just tying to hopefully increase the value by making more people aware of it. It happened with the Charles Johnson and looks like it again with the Viviann Jones...yes both are big records and the chance of getting a bargain are slim but there's still that small chance of a bargain. On the CJ I had a fairly what I thought was hefty snipe 1350ukp and came nowhere near and now it looks like a simliar thing is going to happen with the Viviann Jones. Let people put the hard work in on ebay and finding the record themselves rather than hading it to people on a plate, it's more of a level playing field that way. Rant over Callum
  14. Really frustrating when people post up stuff like this while the ebay auctions are running! All it does is alerts more people and pushes the value up. A Similar thing happended when Charles Johnson was up on ebay a few months back when Ted (who already has a copy) posts up saying someone's going to get a bargain and it ended up going for Silly money. To be fair it wouldn't have made much difference as it went to DJ Honky and he probably had about $5000 on it. Just when you think you might be stand a half decent chance of owning a serious record with a fairly decent snipe someone posts up and alerts people of the auction..... Surely you could of waited a few days till after the auction ended! Callum
  15. Another one from the playbox....quality dancer that goes down well in both the Northern and RnB rooms. Listed at 100ukp on Manships A big Hoss spin! Mighty Joe Young - Ladies Man - Celtex - EX (soundfile of actual record attached) 40Ukp Many Thanks Pm if interested Callum MIGHTY JOE YOUNG - LADIES MAN_0.mp3
  16. Unknown Rnb Dancer up for grabs! I've had this for around 3 years now and have only come across one other copy...a hard record Eddie Purrel - Hex - Shurfine - Shurfiine - EX - ON HOLD 200Ukp Pm if interested Callum EDDIE PERELL - HEX_0.mp3
  17. Hi mate... hope your well It might be worth mentioning you're after the tam-boo version if that is the one you're after otherwise you may get people offering you the very common version release on 'AGE' Callum
  18. I'm sure if Abbey RnB has graded it VG+ and state's it plays great, thats exactley what you'll get. A genuine seller who is spot on with gradings and prices
  19. Up for grabs a nice little funky edged dancer Jesse Anderson - Ow Wow Man - Outta Cyte - Vg/Vg+ 45Ukp - SOLD (soundfile of actual record attached) Pm if interested Many Thanks Callum JESSE ANDERSON - MP3.mp3
  20. Not easy to find....it took me about 2 years to get my hands on a copy. I remember pestering Kev C and yourself to sell me it for a long time. It's a great record and goes down well in Rnb and Soul rooms, I remember Hoss spinning it to a packed dancefloor at Lifeline!
