If you'd of saw the reaction at Different Strokes and other Niter venues where this has been played i think you may think twice before silly comments like that. Maybe it's just time to accept that the Northern/rare soul scene may be evolving into something more exciting (like back in the day) where just good records can get played and more importantly danced to! When I say good records i mean from genre's that we are all familiar with (Soul, RnB, Funk, Latin, Jazz, Boogaloo), i know there will be one or two clever dicks saying "so it's ok to play GOOD rock music then"...No it's not. Nights like Empty Bottles, Pork and Beans and Different Strokes seems to play a mixture of sounds and it works very well, not only that i they always attract new people, When i come back from one from one of those nights i always feel musically satisfied and excited about the music i have heard... Just had a quick skim through this thread, it's quite funny reading some of the comments posted...I agree with Colin Brown and this is something that i have done in the past pigeon holed records. It's either a good recod or a bad record, let the dancers vote with thier feet! When i go out i would say i know about 20% of the records played most of the time, sometimes even less. If i hear a tune and I like it I dance regardless whether it's RnB, Funk, Soul, Latin etc...there i go again pigeon holing, but you know what i mean. Here's a dancer that has been filling floors for a while...soul with a hint of funk or funk with a hint of soul? Who cares...just dance!!! Callum

Here's a thought for a weekender... 100 Club vs Lifeline vs Burnley - Friday all-nighter (x3 DJ's, x3 30 min sets each) 30 & under (+ Clanger) vs 35 & Over - Saurday all-nighter (x4 Dj's on each team, x2 30 minute sets...youth vs experience) after those two nights, not sure anyone could manage a sunday night lol All jokes aside if Lifeline or Burnley was to run a weekender, I think it would be well attended. Depends which venues you attend i suppose. More progressive forward thinking nights seems to mix the DJ's up. Different Strokes & Empty Bottles sping to mind. Two great nights and music as good as anywhere in the country + Europe!

Fancy bringing furby's into the the topic . Not sure about sheep Davie...the people who i know who have it on their wants list are very knowledgeable and have great soul/RnB records and that's why they are after J T Parker. I am after a Volumes at the minute, yes it's played lots and lots of people have it but not because i am a sheep it's because it's a quality record and i love it. Callum
