  1. Lmao. Unless of course Mal C's theory about the 'PIR' prefix is valid (?) and then there may be a bargain to be had from a reduced price ? Mal surely knows more about NS collecting than I do. The plot thickens..
  2. Addendum: I messaged the seller and she confirms its an error
  3. This must take the biscuit this year ? It's a half reasonable newbie, I'll give him that. But.. https://www.discogs.com/sell/item/3374310735?utm_campaign=sell_email_v4&utm_source=relationship&utm_medium=email&ev=wh_new&utm_content=release_title&utm_content=b
  4. I had a little dabble at Shepards early on, but not at that price. Think I paid £75 for my demo.
  5. I remember it being played to absolute death at Nottingham Palais dayers (travelling from Derby). And if it was a washout later on in the early evening, we'd go back to Derby to the Derbyshire Yeoman pub backroom soul nite (now a MaccyD's) I loved the choon back then though, but cant even listen to it now. And I mean no offence to anyone who still loves it to this day, its just my choice now not to listen to it. The version played at the Palais seemed to be quite 'whiny' to me either side of the 'baby, babys'. I dunno if that was a true feature of the 45, or was a warp or off-centre defect of the copy being played (?) I forgave this bitd though.
  6. Shazam it with your phone while it's playing
  7. Effing hell. You lucky man.
  8. "Unreleased Motown Demo Recording" sounds like a sales pitch to me. Best thing to do is probably keep it till you get a definitive answer from one of the gurus, or let the gentleman from Melton Mowbray take a look.
  9. Soul16, sorry to hear this, what a devious bas***d. I hope you can get some sort of resolution on the positive side for yourself.
  10. Warped, but its only a storage warp
  11. May Evelyn RIP. Its been a sad last 24hrs for soul music.
  12. Just adding my RIP. Probably responsible for guiding a big majority in to the scene. A nice little tribute on Radio 5live on the way home this evening too. Inseparable group members, and inseparable memories of their music in my heart.
  13. Roburt, that's some knowledge you have there. Had to read it twice as it was too much for my wasted braincells to cope with. Thanks for a proper schooling, in the nicest possible way.
  14. Agree 100%, Peter 'Love Dont Come No Stronger' does it for me though for modern, but its each to their own. And 'My Baby's Got ESP' - I dunno why, but single always sounds better than the 12" to me. Not from a clarity / hi-fidelity perspective, but just the atmosphere of it.
  15. Class post Yocky. Top man.
  16. I have spoke to Richard Searling on many an occasion and also listened to many interviews and Manchester radio shows and seen him live of course and he always enthuses about the importance of Dena Barnes and how it was one the most influential records of his NS career. I am far from doubting anyone's testimony, but I wonder if more than 1 copy was discovered at the same time on the same trip, and RS ended up with one too (?) Bought or gifted ? Same record sold between DJs ? Be interesting to know if there was a little backstory to this great track in this respect.
