  1. Adey Pierce a few years ago found 4 copies in a large collection that he bought from a UK dealer. Yes they got snapped up very quickly. For many years this was a great collectors sound that occasionally appeared on tape swaps and so deserved playing. Have got a Pete Myles tape from July 1986 identifying it as a £40 semi-known. Mark
  2. Cashmeres - Showstopper - Hem, when you come across copies of this a lot of these are used. Mark
  3. Taking us back to basics, if you know Richard he is true gentleman and a great dee-jay who has brought so much to both the scene for 30+ years alongside introducing 1000's of unknown and obscure sounds to both the soulies etc on the scene and the listeners to his radio shows. Agree with Hippo and others, I hope Richard continues to get the opportunity to be perform his once listened and never forgotten radio shows. Reference taping the show, I have memories of a certain vicar playing Richard's "Rose Valentine (Little Ann) - When he's not around c/u in his spot, that I was told at the time was recorded from Richards show and put on emi-disc. Mark
  4. A couple of additions: Richard played Al Hudson and the Soul Partners - Spread Love on a Saturday night which at that point seemed to be relatively unknown, well put it this way only a few of us recognised and danced to it. Steve Whittle (I believe) played Pigbag - Papa's got a brand new bag in M's. Was with Mudd, Tommo etc in Leicester on the Sunday and Mudd went missing for several hours. When he came back he explained that he had been riding a bike around Leicester trying to find a record store open on a Sunday to buy this new release. Crazy times! Mudd R.I.P. Mark

  9. Dave thanks for joining the thread and have fond memories of enjoying many a good night in the record bar with you and a few bob for some great 45's. Over the years you have discovered some truly great 45's that have been played by many of the nighter dee-jays and collectors and still going strong. Mark
  10. Steve If my memory serves me right, didn't the wheel come off Paul Nobles car on the motorway on the way back from seeing Ronnie McNeir. It was a great night, Ronnie was brilliant and thankfully everyone survived the experience. Mark
  11. Tony Do you know if anyone is still in contact with Duncan, I spent may a good night with Duncan but lost contact over the years. Mark
  12. Ringleaders acetate: All of my life / I'd like to win you over Mark.
  13. Rod Went to Lucky Cordell's with Adey Pierce in the early 90's and pulled quite a few reasonable pieces from his basement, but you could see by what was left that there were lots of obvious 45's that had been picked. John Anderson confirmed with Adey when we got back that he had beeen there many years before that and pulled some absolute top drawer rarities from Lucky's collection including the Magnetics etc, so would not be surprised if they came from this source. Mark
  14. Edwin Yes I really liked Pip and he had a great collection. Anyone now what happened to Pip, are you on Soul Source? Mark
  15. Chalky Regretably sold my copy a few years ago but still have the master tape of "I want to be free" backing track that I picked up in Chicago a few years back. Mark
  16. I always remember when we used to go up on the train, sneaking the back way from the train station to the Casino and did have problems with the local Wigan lads. Pip from Stroud got his hand cut and bag stolen. This at some point ended in a punch-up and vague memories of Norman Wint (Gloucester) and a few others returning the compliment. Oldies night I think.
  17. Good or bad dream? Did Russ play it, I think he might have! Mark
