Hi Pete - No, the cover-up artist was the Tartans, but also at the same time there was a Simon S bootleg on impact - Tartans Sisters - You Took A Shot At My Heart - which was a vocal to Nothing But Love - same time as Del Satins, Charades etc Cheers Mick https://northern-soul-records.com

I had a similar thing a while ago - and I actually typed it in as 25.55 and it registered as 25,550.00 - Luckily I noticed at the submit page and worked out what was wrong --- Euros !!! --- In the UK, we always use a dot . for a decimal, and a comma , for a 1000 seperator. It is the otherway round in Europe. Could have easily missed it though Cheers Mick https://northern-soul-records.com

The Capricorn record was indeed the Four Seasons - Dawn - with vocals stripped. The other side was the main side though, can't remember the title but it was also a Four Seasons inst - Watch The Flowers Grow. For some reason the inst was deliberatly poor quality to give the impression of age, and then presented to the scene as a cover-up called "lose your feet" - I own up to being duped on that one - £50 in 1980 dot something. It appeared the same time as the Glowlite Lou Pride instrumental. Cheers Mick https://northern-soul-records.com

I've recently bought (and now sold) this one ... https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=250013223113 Even though the visual condition was nothing like the description (very badly scuffed and wornthe label on "slipping" was torn), it was still a bargain as it did play very well with only a couple of clicks. Soul Sam has it now. Cheers Mick https://northern-soul-records.com

Pete that's great Where did all these obscure clips come from anyway - Christine Cooper for god's sake!! Tried to get the Dusty / What's it gonna be, but its been removed. Cheers Mick https://northern-soul-records.com

Pete, The converter I used was Ultra Video to Flash converter (the setup file is called video2flash.exe). I didn't try the replay converter simply because the UVF thingy worked, although reading the blurb Replay Conv doesn't appear to support .mpg format. Now I'll ignore AVI format because of the codec problems (seems a new format is created every week!!) and look at mpg. Any mpg should play fine because it is only one format. I still use an old win98 player version 6.4 which is so old it hurts - but works on ANY mpg I've ever encountered, and the UVF gave me a perfect mpg file. I should point out I'm still a windows 98 user so there is nothing Hi-Tech about my system. When I installed it the UVF downloader gave me an error on registering the files - I choose 'ignore' and hoped for the best - it worked fine. It may be that a correct installation DOES cock up the outputs. Is is also possible that if you have BOTH converters installed (UVF and Replay Conv) there is a conflict. Completely uninstall Replay conv - reboot - Try UVF, outputting to mpg If no good then Uninstall the UVF - reboot - Reinstall UVF only - Try It If its still no good then it may get a little tricky ... If you have confidence to Edit your registry, then you could remove refrences to Ultra Flash and try that --- If not, then make a backup of your UVF Folder (usually located in C:\program files), call it something else. Then backup these files ... C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\avisynth.dll C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\devil.dll Completely uninstall UVF and reboot - put your backup copy of UVF folderback in original location, and the above two files. Give it a go. Worse case is that it won't work, but you can always reinstall it correctly and be back where you were... Upside down, back to front and pulling your hair out. Let me know if it works, I'll watch this space .... Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com

Pete - Yes - I tried converting to avi and it only gave me audio, but converting to mpg was no problem. I used the Video to Flash converter that was mentioned earlier. They now play on an old version of media player, and I'm sure they are OK with later versions Cheers Mick https://northern-soul-records.com

Hello Folks, If anyone can help me with a contact email for Barry Simpson in Australia I would be most greatful. He contacted me this morning through the eBay system, but eBay have a temporary block on responses and contact not relating to a specific item. I'll probably be able to get through in a day or so, but if anyone can help with an email address that would be great. Cheers Mick https://northern-soul-records.com

I sold a copy of this about 3 years ago for £300 (it wasn't in the best of condition though). It also saw a 'slightly easier to find' release north of the border. Cheers Mick https://northern-soul-records.com

how about Mike Kennedy (Los Bravos) ??? Cheers Mick https://northern-soul-records.com

Hello, This is slightly different but kind of related. Pink copies on Red Coach - I am at present selling one on eBay and it has been suggested through a question, that they were UK issues, and not USA. I assumed that after the original promos had found their way over to the UK Northern Scene, the record company did then issue it, due to the UK demand, and most, if not all, were then shipped over here. All though this does indeed make it a release for the UK market, it would still be a USA pressed record. If however, I'm wrong and the Pink label copies were manufactured in the UK, does anyone know anything about it (Can't think of a pressing plant in the UK that did Styrene - might be wrong though). Yet Another Ebay Scam - Uk Based - Beware
Mick Holdsworth replied to Mick Holdsworth's topic in All About the SOUL
All sorted - the explaination offered, profound appologies and the free record offered do now make me realise there was no funny business going on, so any suspicions, accusations I made are now retracted - If you're out there Mr M, a big thanks for helping me out with this. Here's a link to an eBay record that turns out to be another eBay scammer https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/northern-soul-JUSTIN...itemZ4882644406 This is yet another record seller who turns out to be a thief. Angela Black 28 Chestnut Ave Macclesfield SK10 2BU Having recently purchased this copy of Justin - What Can I Do - from this person on May 25th through good old eBay, I am now faced with the only conclusion that the seller, above, either never had the record, or simply had no intention of sending it out to the so called winner (myself). Her only action to date is to take the payment (£68.65). Her ID with eBay - angeloppy - is now unregistered. Enquirys initially prompted a response to the effect that the record would be despatched immediately - that was June 7th. - recent emails receive no reply, and of course, no record has arrived. Looking further into the listing, there was a sound clip download from a managed webpage - There are new clips and images there now, so if you see records for sale like .... Deadbeats / Gambrells / Jaquars / Linda Jones / Rufus Lumley LP / Mickey Laney / Sir Guy Armond / Eldridge Holmes / Dixie Cups .... and a few others, then BEWARE. Although the eBay ID is now obsolete, I'm sure she's ready for a new start with a new ID on either eBay or someplace else. This person may send you your record, she may not. There was no hesitation to steal a mere £68.00, the value of the Deadbeats, for example, would be infinately more. If you bought and paid for it, would you actually get it - possibly .. Thanks for reading, and beware of this person. Mick https://northern-soul-records.com
