  1. Dave I thought the Chuck Holiday was also available on some reissue from about 5 or more years ago, think it was only the A side though (Hayleys??) A nice A/B pairing would be great though, much better than a "Tommy and the Derbys backed with the Snake" kind of thing. Hope you do it, I'll buy one (Chuck Holiday, not the Snake) Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  2. Also John Manship has a red one, but i think it is probably a coincidence. I'd be far more concerned about the Sensations / Demanding Man, finishing tonight, for no other reason than where it is coming from (Think how rare the royal Esquires is ... ) Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  3. Alfie Davison "Serious Business" - used to like this as a new release, then, like a lot of records from that period, something new came along and the two week novelty value of the AD was replaced with some new 2 week novelty. - Never thought the song would dominate the scene to the level it did for so many years - after 3 months I was fed up to the back teeth of it - then it got booted, and booted, and booted, - Trawl then all up and send 'em to Wombourne.
  4. Well spotted - It is a different mix. Also it is in stereo, but I recorded this sound clip in mono because I had a recording problem with my equipment at the time - The vocal is on the flip side, again using this backing. I didn't notice for many years, but the acetate is slower than the released versions (I speeded up the recording a couple of RPM for this sound clip, to make it consistent with the known versions - The vocalist actually sounds better at the slightly slower speed, more natural). 5. A Totally Pointless Compilation - Even if it wasn't a Bootleg, the comment still stands. ....'cept someone has bidded ????????? Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  6. Saw this, think I might have bidded on it, but the crack put me off - There was talk on here a few months ago when some other John St John variation turned up on Ariola, probably the one pictured above. Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  7. Just had a search and found the LP with "Banner Man" , but "These Things ... " is doesn't appear to be on it - any ideas which LP it is on ??? (banner man is Vol 2 with green cover) Interestingly, The LP does contain "Heaven Must Have Sent You" and "I'm Gonna Run Away Fron You", although what these versions are like is something I couldn't say. As to the Blue Sharks 45, think busses ... https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=260315083983 Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  8. Yes, that right regarding the Bobby Paris side, first (and therefore Original) UK issue of "I Walked Away". The HBB saw an earlier Capitol (re)issue in the UK - orange label from early 70's. Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  9. I think what missing link meant was that it was that it was a genuine legal issue, which was your original concern ie "kosher" or not. However, it is not a 1967 original, but a mid/late 70's reissue by Capitol UK, of a US 1967 release. Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  10. Don't think it was a mistake - If you play the Smokey / Miracles track "Come 'Round Here" from the same LP, that is also a different take - Quite a few Motown LPs had different takes to the 45, Jimmy Mack / at least two Jackson 5 tracks, probably others too Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  11. Apparently they were part Italian and part Swiss Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  12. It was Spiral Starecase Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  13. Maybe it was just the one copy I played that was off (Think it was a white DJ), and "assumed" the rest were the same. Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  14. The Destiny release was the proper version by Rita & Tiaras , but badly mastered, it played off centre and sounded really bad. Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  15. Here's a scan of the 9011 issue (from an earlier thread on here) the Promo would be white and black / same design as above / vinyl Bootlegs are turquoise and black / styrene. Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  16. The other side is called "I Stood By" Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  17. Possibly Joe Vandiver (as in "you're everything" etc) Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  18. Also by Dana Valery , as was Jackie Wilsons, "this love is real" , also by Promises and DV Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  19. Yes, on the "United" label Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  20. I think , as Tony says, it was only the last few tracks that Tammi couldn't perform due to deterioating health - one of them was "The Onion Song". Cant be be sure, but "California Soul" rings a bell too. Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  21. Promatics and Love & Brotherhood were also the same as Fuller Bros and Whispers, but what was the Suger Pie DeSanto ??? Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  22. All originals at about a Fiver , give or take Spyder Turner - I Can't Make It Any More - MGM Lou Courtney - You Ain't Ready - Riverside Gene Chandler - Fool For You - Constellation Dobie Gray - Out On The Floor - Charger Jimmy James - A Man Like Me - UK Stateside Lots of good stuff on Ric-Tic by the likes of Edwin Starr , JJ Barnes, Fantastic Fou, Al Kent, Flaming Embers (a few a bit more expensive, but most still £5 or less) Ditto Golden World , Revilot Can't think at moment, but tons of stuff available in this price range Oh and Don't Forget The Motor City" - Motown has its ratities, but it also had its excellent cheapies - probably about 5,000 - 10,000 all excellent £5 or less records Did I Say - Spyder Turner ??????????? If you only buy 1 record this year - then Spyder Turner - I Can't Make It Any More - on US MGM is the one. Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  23. Probably sold through other means (web site / gemm / etc) or not through the internet, especially if it was a popular item. Can take a while to update stock if it is listed more than once. Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
  24. Essex Burning Emotions
  25. Cody Michaels / Liza Mae ( x 2 ? ) / Jan Snow / Michael Christian - might be others - there was a few threads about this a while back - Definately 4 uses of this track, and 5 if there was another Liza Mae apart from "Juicy Mouth" Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk
