  1. Some are double "B sided" re-serviceable demos (The B side being "Can't Stop A Man"). Cheers Mick
  2. Not really relevant, but it's strange how the logo under the "COLUMBIA" is smaller on one side than the other.
  3. That orange label doesn't look like a scan - more like artwork for the label. Was ISC 018 a missing number in the original series?
  4. Did Petula Clark also sing this?
  5. There are both Issues and Demos of BOTH variations "I Know The Inside Story", and "I DIDN'T Know The Inside Story". I've always asumed the "Didn't" was a misprint and it was repressed with correct title - I don't know if the matrix is the same, probably is. There seems to be as many of each variation around, so probably nothing in it in rarity. Cheers Mick
  6. Don't know - if it's a different matrix to any other original Test Demo with the squashed A, then it suggests a different or later press. Can whoever has it put up a label scan ?? I never mentioned this before, as it would have confused the situation, but I have a Test Press of the Voc / Inst with the reissue matrix as previously described. It's undoubtedly from the early 70's, as the matrix has the normal 'A'. I had never seen or heard of this until last year. (I mean 2010 !)
  7. Always prefered the other side - "Suppose"
  8. You probably mean one of the many Mike Morton LP There was a rumour about 2 years ago that this LP version by Mike Morton was the exact same recording as Blue Sharks. "These Things" is indeed the same, however "Banner Man" (The Blue Sharks flip side) is different. I did get both the LP's at the time, one with "These Things", and a second LP with "Heaven Must Have Sent You" (coincidentally, this second LP also had "Banner Man" on it). Also the tracks were faded together with Fake appluase between tracks (Like O'Jays MFP LP) Cheers Mick NB meant to update this but somehow forgot - Just to clarify "These Things" are the same recordings but "Banner Man" is different.
  9. OK Dave, if you have it then it must be right - I'm going by a vague memory and having the record for 5 minutes in 1980 ish - Just as a matter of interest was the standard release of "Be Happy/Inst also on 6702 ? Merry Christmas Mick
  10. Hi Dave - Think it was 6701 for both "Be Happy" and the misspress "Together". Cheers Mick
  11. It's back now - probably a server glitch
  12. Ac Actually, it's his only Decca song that is NOT on a Decca or Brunswick album, either 123 or ITTOTY
  13. Think this was a "teaching tool" for a press operator - First day on the job, basically he was given any old unwanted labels and any stampers to learn how to press a record. Once he was compitent, he could then get to work on "real" records. John Manship had a similar record not too long ago. Some UK motown record but with a 50's capitol label on one side and some other similar non-related label on the other side. Cheers Mick
  14. I've only seen the Panic / Unsatisfied before - the reddish release. I didn't know about the second yellow press until now with "What Am I Crying For" flip. Cheers Mick
  15. Yes, from about 4/5 years ago - they appear regularly for about £5 / £10 I like the B side too
  16. Saw this as £31 a couple of days ago ... https://www.ebay.co.u...em=160681491596 Just checked and now £67 Ouch
  17. Good question - Don't know - It may breach some laws, but I would think Misrepresentation would only come in to play if the said c/u was NOT the correct record, irrespective of the c/u title or the real credits. For example, if we were to step back in time a couple of years and I were to sell Belita Woods - "Foolish Girl" as a cover up - and supply to the buyer a copy of Tiaras on Op Art - that would not really be misrepresentation as the buyer got Exactly what he or she wanted. If, however, I were to supply a copy of Dee Dee Warwick* - Foolish Girl instead, then that would be misrepresentation (and a few other questionable things too). (* - or was it Dionne Warwick? I can't remember now) How many Moms and Dads will be going to Santa's Grotto this week - pay a set fee and receive "something" wrapped up in Christmas paper - isn't this similar. (I've never gone to these kinds of places, but i'm assuming the parents know what they are supposedly bying in advance) These are all opinions, I have no knowledge of law regarding these matters. If anyone does know, it would be very interesting to see. Cheers Mick
  18. Agreed, a lot of these records did come out in Australia and other countries on the same and different labels, but I think this thread was about USA label releases, identical to their standard large hole release, but with small hole. The Gwen Owens I was on about was "You Better Watch Out", and the Moments was either Girls, girls, Girls or Look At Me, not on Philips, but US Stang. Cheers Mick
  19. Frank Beverly sounds nice
  20. If it's the "lined" label, the orig should be 2:35 long whereas the boot is 2:01 for some reason. There are other differences and other label designs. Have a look here ... Cheers Mick
  21. There's been quite a few soul (and other) releases with small holes. Frankie Crocker / Sandy Waddy (red SOS) / Eddie Regan (demo) / Gwen Owens (Casablanca) / Schatz / one of the Moments' Stang releases / Cornelius Bros (Too Late) / .. loads more. I used to collect oddities like this in the late 70's / early 80's - At the time, we all thought they were New York releases. Cheers Mick
  22. My own copy which I bought from either Gary Rushbrooke or Sam was covered up as Melvin Davis "These Windows Can't Hide" (as "Find a Quiet Place" was big at the time). My earlier post may have got missed, but this copy for sale at the moment, is it "Village Sound" or "Village Sounds" - I've had both a few times over the years - but more fractionally more copies of "Village Sound" seem to have come my way. No idea which is original though. Cheers Mick
  23. Is it "Village Sound" or "Village Sounds" - I've had both a few times over the years - but more fractionally more copies of "Village Sound" seem to have come my way. No idea which is original.
  24. "Ain't It Baby" very nearly never happened. Last year, John Rhys related an episode where the "Motown Thugs" broke in and took the original master of this song and wheeled it down Davison Avenue - never to be seen again. It was only through John's foresight that he made a back up copy in an adjacent room, thus the recording managed to survive, and get it's deserved release on Arctic. I also understand that "Laws Of Love" was also a GW recording. Cheers Mick
