All Platinum - The Making Of A Sound - Author: Steve Guarnori
Mick Holdsworth commented on Steve G's article in News Archives
Well done Steve, it looks like it's going to be brilliant. -
Hi Eddie, Love Symphony is "A Day In Sausalito", which is the normal B side to "Double Cookin'". "Sausalito" is also the instrumental to the Magicians release "Is It All Gone",

3rd Unknown Song - Can Anyone Help Me??
Mick Holdsworth replied to Picky's topic in All About the SOUL
Yes, it is Teddie Morrow - Sound clip here . . . https://www.afro-juice.com/item/190617000046/ -
I've never seen an advert for the Jimmy Randazzo before, only the entries as unissued in discographies. I wonder what it was, maybe a direct vocal of the track that was dropped in favour of Tony Michaels. Alternatively, maybe it was a different musical recording, albeit the same song. Anybody have any more info?

I think because the show overran by about 10 mins, the archive system just cut off at 10:00, much like your TV planner. The next show picks up on the end of Time Will Pass You By. and then it's TL and DILY. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001nnsx

If anyone wants to listen to the audio recording, it's up on BBC Sounds now . . . It's only there for for 29 days though. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001nnsq

Mick Holdsworth replied to TimbaMerchant's topic in Look At Your Box
Okay, so that's Martha Reeves. I take it that is on the other side of the "Prophets" image you posted a link to on the opening post. Thanks -

Seven Souls - I still Love you blank ID help
Mick Holdsworth replied to Agrail's topic in Look At Your Box
Yes, forgot ISLY was a B side. So tha A side is missing, and they used a blank instead, which would make sense, as there wouldn't be any stampings etc. Nice one. -
Seven Souls - I still Love you blank ID help
Mick Holdsworth replied to Agrail's topic in Look At Your Box
Looks like an early tester, just to check out the machine settings etc. Strange there is no B side,, unless it is a blank plate B side ?? -

Charlie rich love is after me UK London demo
Mick Holdsworth replied to Adydj's topic in Record Wants
Have PM'd you. -
Yes, thanks, although what I meant was the concentration of specific DD records, as opposed to any classic Pye/Roulette/Calla etc.
-
Four of those eight titles are reissues of the old UK Pye Disco Demand series. I wonder if that is a coincidence.

The first of the videos listed is, as you say, just the wrong soundfile. The three word title, "(A) Little Togetherness" is the short version, However the "millionaire" full version did get pressed. I have one, and I only know of one other in the hands of DJ Honky in New York. It is a styrene press, two-word title "Little Togetherness", and it has an incorrect timing of 2:45. To add more confusion, the "Tempos" labelled copy is only a standard short take, even though the timing on the label is 3:15 Over the years, I've had three "Tempos", and all play short versions. I still live in hope that a long version exists with the Tempos 3:15 label, but as the Younghearts labelled "milionaire" press appears to be quite rare, I doubt it, Would love to be proved wrong though. Pitching up records, opinions and history
Mick Holdsworth replied to Geeselad's topic in All About the SOUL
Alongside the aforementioned Moses Smith / Epitome, Simon Soussan sped up a fair few of his boots. Detroit Shakers (Rainbows), Frank Wilson (In). Others escape me but there were more I'm sure. If you listen to I.O.U., the B Side of Johnny Caswell, I'm sure that is sped up. I initially heard a as a youth on a Champion Boot, amd assumed that it was just Simon at it again, but realised it was exactly the same on the Decca release. That would mean right from the start someone decided to adjust the tempo at the production stage, and a consequence of tempo change is to change the pitch (and vice versa), ie. the faster the tempo, the higher the pitch. -
If you paid through Paypal, does it not show an email address for the transaction (sometimes the transaction doesn't show it, but most of the time it does). If you have that, it may joj your memory. If you can remember what you bought, do a search through your browser history and see if a familiar link pops up. If not then try and repeat the search through Google, or the market places or forums you use regularly. Might help.

Discogs - US listing - ridiculous - Scam ?
Mick Holdsworth replied to Vadnochka's topic in Look At Your Box
His username for today is haroldjaohnson https://www.discogs.com/user/haroldjaohnson 313 items up at the mo I suspect that will disappear in a couple of hours or less. Generic description for everything is . . . "Looks Great and sounds excellent. In excellent VG -NM condition. Fast worldwide shipping with tracking" Update : Now has no items for sale. -
I didn't realise Tim had sold it, but yes, that is the same copy. Good to know where it is after 35 or so years. I think it is great, but maybe too fast and furious for folks in the eighties, as tastes were changing to a slower tempo.
-
I bought Sams copy of him about 1980 or maybe a touch later, and kept it for a good many years. At the time I understood it to be the only known copy (or at least that was the impression I got). When when I sold up in the late 1980s, it went though Domar and I understand ended up with Tim Brown. I only played it out a spots maybe a couple of times, never really cought on. Think it's still quite rare, but no idea how many copies.

So sad. Another great guy I hadn't seen in almost 10 years. RIP Tim.
