After many successful purchases on ebay it seems I have finally been caught out. Unfortunately it's a biggie. I bought a copy of Elbie Parker on Veep from a seller in USA on 28th May and sent money immediately via Paypal. Nothing arrived so contacted him - no reply. Escalated as a dispute and had no response so filed a claim with Paypal. I'm still waiting whilst they investigate but since then he has had several negative feedback entries indicating he has done the same to others. He seems to have used the Paypal mailing service via USPS but clicking on the link indicates they were expecting the package but did not receive it. Gutted would be putting it mildly, the record is a life long want - I'm sure you can gather how much I have lost. The seller was : Timothy Engle 1034 Inverrary ln Deerfield, IL 60015 United States buytoappreciate@earthlink.net Ebay ID = floortoceilingmusic I'll add updates as things progress and, of course will set the record straight if this turns out to be a simple error, although that seems unlikely now. If anyone can help, I'd be grateful. John.

Yep, that's the one, totally agree. Would add - too many DJs and unimaginative DJs (possibly as a result of the above).

Totally agree Paul, a star that never really shone. For me I guess it's "I Don't Know What Foot To Dance On" and more recently, the brilliant deep soul masterpiece "Where Were You" Best, John.
  4. ....and so is this one.....and yes, it's a boot.

That's it solved then, next topic.

Sure we've done this before but: Winstons - Colour Him Father Will Downing - Grandma's Hands J.
  7. Totally agree, it's just ritual and was never of that much importance or used as widely as legend says. It's also unhealthy to breathe the stuff in all night long. If you can dance, you don't need it. J.

Agree Baz, plenty of good stuff on there and not too expensive. Always loved Pat Lundi - Party Music. Big Mecca spin that went big everywhere at the time. J.
  9. Looks like a boot to me mate.
  10. Well, they may not be well known but to us in the "inner circle". Mind you, they played a slightly smaller role: Virl & Tom Osmond J.
  11. ROFL mate - big time. But wait a minute, maybe we could set up some decks and...............
  12. Well shoot that poison arrow Pete, you got me there. Disagree with you about Merrill though. I liked Virl.
  13. Ah, just realised I have been confusing it with "ABC" for years. Now THAT was definately the Jackson Five - wasn't it?
  14. Good heavens, he's right! Glad I logged in now.
  15. Now that's interesting Sean. I had always thought it the Jackson 5. Well well, you learn something everyday. What an interesting thread......... So, where is Northants?

Thanks Paul & glad to help. Keep with the Little Anthony, sooo much real soul there and streches from 50's to 90's. Enjoy tonight & watch out for earthquakes!!!!! John.

Thanks Ian, I didn't know that and it's fascinating. I'll listen to the song in a different light now. The Bobby Herb thing is probably a spelling error by typesetter at printers, as such, I suppose it could be rare but it would take a "special" type of collector to pay out for it.......... John.
  19. First decent record, partly because it started my whole journey - Supremes - Stoned Love on UK Motown. Bought with paper round money and I still remember the excitement of buying it and playing it for the first time. First "northern" original - JJ Barnes - Please Let Me In on Ric Tic. Bought from balcony record stall at Wigan. Still love 'em both. J.

Here we go again..........this keeps coming up. I prefer Jesse Henderson - by miles. Got both L of H reissue (shown above) and Lasso (which is also boot??) but then we've had that thread before methinks. Back to Dave's thread though, original is rare! John.
  24. Nice one Pete, thanks. John.
  25. A doubtful negotiation strategy Paul....... I'm ok, you? We are planning to come up saturday so hopefully see you there mate. J.
