  1. Had always thought it to be Yate? John "Kojac" Harvey had a knackered old copy that he used to tote around. Think it was that which Dave Godin used to press the Right On! issue.
  2. It's on Cadet mate but: 1) Be careful, there are boots about with Marlena Shaw "Wade In The Water" on other side. 2) It got a UK release in 70's on Chess, with the plastic blue label. With "Give Your Baby A Standing Ovation" on the other side. If you want an original then get the Cadet US issue 5551 with "Over Again" on B side. That should be around the price quoted above. The UK re-issue above (point 2) should be cheaper than that. Hope that helps Andy, John.
  3. What, THAT big Sue? From Huddersfield? Remember when......... At last I've found you! Come back to me......
  4. Who does he think you are now then Malc? In a similar vein, not too long ago someone said to me "do you have an older brother called John?" Made my whole month that did! John.
  5. Yes, paying by Paypal does protect you outside of ebay. I recently had to raise a dispute on a non-ebay (and non-soul music) purchase. The company refunded immediately. That's why it is so good for buyers, for the protection if offers. Best, John.
  6. Partly, yes I think but also think a load turned up. I've seen it go for $25 on ebay. The internet has certainly opened things up. Happy to be wrong if it benefits you though of course!!! Best, John.
  7. Not much I'm afraid Nev (unless you are buying?). £20 tops I'd say. 12" on TK is rarer. Album is worth looking out for, around £75 - 100 but be careful, it's been booted. Hope this helps, John.
  8. Hi Matt, "I Can't Wait Any Longer" is the B side. A side is "Turn The World Around The Other Way". Hope this helps, John.
  9. Hi, yes it's been booted, but has Essex on B side here: Innersection boot Original on sale here: Innersection real Best, John.
  10. Hmmmm, same old same old. Quite a long intro there, Johhny appeared to be trying to come in early several times. Found the Santana one too. No sax at all, plenty electric guitar though. Santana Still Bay Bros for me! John.
  11. Hi Paul, good album this and quite rare too. only one on popsike, sold for $416 in march 2007. Whatnauts This album has also been booted (re-issued, whatever) but not sure how you can tell. Good luck, John.
  12. Hello mate, agree it's a great track, I know of versions by: Junior Walker - The original & probably first played Younghearts - No sax Motherlode - Don't like it Bay Brothers - The best version & most sax (IMHO) Electrifying Cashmeres - Soulful vocals, my second choice Buddy Miles - Not bad Kenny G - My third choice I don't know the Hearts of Stone version you mention though, I'll give it a listen. Most popular with me is Bay Brothers. Rarest? Toss up between Electrifying Cashmeres and Bay Brothers I think. Hope this gets you started, I'm sure others will add more and more versions and opinions - beware of obsession setting in!!! Best, John. PS late edit: quick search show versions by Superband on Manships (awful) and possibly one by Santana too. This will run & run!!
  13. Jules, sorry to say it mate but this looks like a boot to me. I think the writing is blue on original. It also has that shiny sort of look that many boots had (although that may just be the photo). But don't take action just yet, let's see if anyone else can help. Best, John.
  14. That's good enough for me John, thanks for clearing it up.
  15. Yes indeed Pete! And what were the records? I haven't bought much from JM's auction but if it was me that paid out after illegal bids I think I'd be looking for some money back - at the very least. On the other hand, if this is just nonsense then the record needs to be set straight.
  16. This is good to hear and a great idea for a thread. I have had similar experience with other sellers and think we should share these as well as the bad stuff. I'll add this seller to my favourites. Many thanks, John.
  17. Yes. But the music is still the best.
  18. Hi Martin, I may be wrong but my suspicions are that you have a real find there. My understanding of events is: "The Night" was actually issued twice by Mowest UK. The first issue was abandoned due to faults at the pressing plant and records recalled and destroyed. Thus the first issue is a very rare record. Of those records in the first press, some were perfect except for one detail - they had no labels - or rather they had labels but these were white and not printed at all. Thus first issues with plain white labels are incredibly rare. As yours is stamped in the same way as the latter issue (it's an unusual font, check the match), my opinion is that it is real. It is not a pre-release though but a first issue. Manship auctioned one of these a while back but no idea what it fetched. I would think it's pretty bloody close to a one off and therefore, to the right collector, extremely valuable. What I am a bit vague on is the release numbers. I think that the first issue was 3002 although it may be 3022, I'd check that stamp mark again if I were you. The second issue was definately 3024 though. Can anyone else add more detail or confirm/disprove the above. I'd like to know and I'm sure Martin would! Cheers, John.
  19. Totally agree - Mamie Lee much better.
  20. Awful mate, who buys these indeed........but it ain't a "re-issue", it's a BOOTLEG. Sorry, hate the Christine Quaite, it's pop and worthless. Have a nice day! J.
  21. Totally agree with you Paul. I was always cautious about feedback because I didn't want to create a stir so if I had a bad experience I didn't leave any. ....but that does nobody any good so I now give fair and honest feedback. It doesn't have to be negative as the neutral option is available. I've used it twice lately, once when a record wasn't in the condition advertised and once when record was badly packaged and late (from USA). The second time I got an offensive message from seller - which kinda proves he's not worth dealing with. Overall, I've been ok with ebay but feedback is invaluable and I'm being honest about it, you should do the same Sepia. See you soon mate, John,
  22. Totally agree. It's an insult to those who have paid money to get in and to the real DJs who follow.
  23. There's only one DJ deserves to win this - Richard Searling. Top DJ from Wigan right up until today. Open minded, inventive and refuses to be pigeon holed. J.
  24. Yep, listening pissed & blocked! . Crap DJ but good sounds. Elbie Parker........oooh!
