  1. Can anyone give me an idea of the price of a seven inch single of Stay by the temptations. Released in 98? ta Mark.
  2. Sorry - misunderestandiong by me being to lazy to type a full explanation. It was meant to suggest that those nights aimed at farming people through the doors in vast numbers whilst selling them every accoutrement required for the full experience, appear to be the ones that are more guilty of allowing tracks to be played several times over the course of a night. An oldies night can be run with passion and not have repeat plays of a track by various DJ's - after all there are more than 500 tracks to choose from. The first date in my signature will be an oldies and stompers night by request of the people who attend it. The Dj's will know that the same rules apply and they will do their utmost to ensure that they do no replay a track unless there is a very good reason. So many appologies for the misunderstanding and happy days with all those lovely tunes that need to be aired.
  3. The general gist of this thread does appear to be pointing the finger squarely at commercial type nights. How strange that the venues and nights run with a bit of passion appear to care about the music and scene in general - or is it? Past glories or forward thinkers. No where I'd go.
  4. Heres mine at Isle of Man 03 - still in the garage and gets taken out occasionally - bit like the wife! Must have had this one for 15 or so years and resprayed it in 2001.
  5. Perhaps promoters should have a pretty good idea of the types of sounds played by DJ's they book and book a selection of people who play different styles/types/tracks to compliment rather than copy?
  6. Cracking track - can any one give me a steer on the album title? ta Mark.
  7. Both sensible words. I love the quote Nusha -spot on. Matt hit the nail on the head as well- in that its not always geographical distance - it can be area based and crowd specific. Personally I say good luck to all those who want to promote - it can be a nightmare and it can be the sweetest feeling going when it all goes right in the end and people enjoy themselves.Because in the end that is what its about, not a pissing match to see who has what. Mark.
  8. Jerry_Fuller.mp3 End of the night/beginning of the morning - music fades you open your eyes to see other bewildered dancers on the floor? Or is it to righteous brothers for most?
  9. Just got Seans this morning and I am listening to it as I work. So far so good.
  10. Issued as Soup bone,Chaz+2 on Mab-Jab 1001 in about 1962. Cab be found on Las Vegas grind 3 CD I think. Cheers and good luck. Mark.

  16. A loss to the world of rare soul. Keep overlooking us.
  17. well thats three of us then - enough to fall foul of the law and be moved on by the police should we choose to congregate in a public place. I will see if I can get some uploaded if not I will burn some to a CD.
  18. Will pm you Mal.
  19. Happy New Year to you as well Angie, I have to put me hand up to number 3 and I think the title sums it up. Hope all is well Mark.
  20. Not a problem Kirsty - was actually Soul-Smugglers-Inc who provided the prize, although I have no doubt Martin, Toni and the guys at KSC wish you all the best on your endeavours. Pressure is on them now to come up trumps. Money in the post for tickets, Mark.
  21. Yep, I am a big fan and collect early soul/doowop crossover tracks.
  22. Nowhere_to_go.mp3 anyone got any ideas who this artist is or might be. Taken of a publishing house acetate from about 1959. Cheers mark.
  23. Didn't mean to suggest it was a boot. I have bought stuff that is original from Belgioum only to have lots of poor excuses for not sending it - ending in claims against the traders. See what you mean about the quirkiness factor of the labels - and I do love the little infomercial bits on the labels of demo/audition copies. I have some and in the main there great history. Still back to the search.
  24. Think it should have record box stickers for those DJ's that sign up.
