Always tried to tape these things when they cropped up..........think I got most of them along the way. See you Saturday, all being well. Cheers, Mark R

  5. For those interested in some new grooves, such as Kenny Thomas (CD out at last!) & Ron Carroll, my next Starpoint Radio guest show will air as follows: Sunday 30th July 2-4pm Monday 31st July 7-9pm Hope some of you can join me @ www.starpointradio.com. Cheers, Mark R
  6. I should point out that I wasn't trying to force this down anyones throat, or suggest that it would necessarily cross-over to the NS scene, just posting it as a good soulful example of the genre that some folk on here may dig. As far as the Ann Nesby cut goes, see my Cleethorpes weekender playlists here: /index.p...29791&st=50 And to add even more interest, for those that don't know, Ann Nesby was the lead voice on those early Sounds Of Blackness tracks which are the subject of much interest elsewhere on the forum. Cheers, Mark R

  8. At what point (in terms of value of your tooons) will common sense prevail, and people start to CD-R them and use those..............I just know I'm gonna need my tin-hat here!! Seriously for a moment, isn't it bonkers..............especially with the thieving I keep reading about, trips abroad as mentioned here, some of the incorrectly set-up decks they get played on............not to mention the state of your lovely little disks by the time all that talc's settled on them................ ...........you might as well give them a rub with some light abbrasive paper as well!! I don't see a problem with burning them to CD-R.................as long as you can hold your head up high knowing full well you have the original copies of what you are playing. I suppose it's about playing the real thing though, I understand that..............a bit crazy though, you have to admit. Would you have a classic early Rolls-Royce and use it on an off-road course???? I think not. Food for thought.............have a nice time wherever you're going...........sure your records will be fine. Cheers, Mark R
  9. QED...............that's all anyone could ever sensibly ask...........can't force folk, but lots of people dismiss without hearing..............you got it in a nutshell! Cheers, Mark R

  19. I make you right now you've mentioned it!! Cheers, Mark R
  20. I know what you're saying Chalky, but in fairness to the sixties boys, if you take as read that the 60's sides that got played since year dot are still played (which of course they are), then the difference in the sound of new release soul becomes more and more removed with the passing of time, so maybe the difference in style between 60's and contemporary soul is just too far apart, than say the difference in 60's to "Stafford" type modern?? Having said that, I'm sure Glenda mcCloud etc sounded just as unacceptable to some back then!! But you see my point............for instance, surely we all concede that a 60's fan is more likely to turn to crossover soul rather than new releases in 2006...........I generalise with that statement of course. Cheers, Mark R
  21. I didn't say he did

Sharing with Pat and Elaine at Cleethorpes.................top people..............if you remember seeing two grown men in fancy dress pretending to fish with kiddies plastic fishing tackle in the swimming pool at Cleethorpes a few years ago, that was the the Clugstone brothers Cheers, Mark R
