This was at a time when I was in a lull going out to gig wise........early days of owning first house and stuff..........so despite Dean's best efforts on the occasions I went to the old Expansion shop, it's a gig I never went to...............have always felt I missed out here Cheers, Mark R

We are pleased (no delighted) to be able to confirm MELI'SA MORGAN as the live act at next year's March Prestatyn Weekender. Meli'sa has made some stunning tunes over the years starting off with HIGH FASHION - and hits like 'Feelin' Lucky Lately' etc in the early eighties, three further solo albums for Capitol during the next ten years or so - that gave us classic songs such as 'Fools Paradise, 'Do Me Baby', 'Heart Breaking Decision'. Moving onto Elektra in the mid nineties 'Still In Love' saw her hook up with MAW and then more recently with Blaze on the fantastic 'Don't Say Love' with soul and house mixes included. This year has seen her sign to the re-activated Orpheus / Hush productions camp for a stunning return with tracks like 'Do You, Do You Want It', 'There'll Never Be' and a great version of 'Back Together Again' with Freddie Jackson. Meli'sa will be performing songs spanning her 25 year recording career and is still at the top of her game on the live circuit in the US - as a recent live show in New York with the Dells & Howard Hewitt is testament to. Details for the weekend are as below - Modern Soul @ The Prestatyn Weekender Thursday 15th / Friday 16th / Saturday 17th / Sunday March 18th 2007 70's Xover, 80's & 90's Classics To The Latest Y2K7 Soul & Soulful Dance In Two Fantastic Rooms DJ's - BOB JONES, STEVE HOBBS, MICK FARRER, SOUL SAM, ARTHUR FENN, IVOR JONES, JAMIE TAYLOR, GARETH DONOVAN, CLIFF STEELE, MARK RANDLE, DAVE RIPOLLES, TATS TAYLOR, NEIL RUSHTON, FISH & ROB WIGLEY. To reserve your place - call the booking line on 0870 6045606 quoting ref NS07 Prices range from £45 - £75 for the whole weekend including accommodation, dependant on numbers sharing (4 - 6) and class of accommodation booked. Please note all Club rooms are now sold out. With over 2600 people already booked (fact - not hype) early booking is advisable. Capacity is limited to 3,000 and the event sells out early every year. We look forward to seeing some of you there. Cheers Fish

Many thanks to Dave Thorley & Malayka for supplying to tickets for this competition. I'll put up a seperate post in Events section about the compo, but I want to keep this thread going as the main thread about the show..........playlists etc......so, apologies in advance for the duplication! Black Box "Positive Vibration" Cutting Edge Japan CD 1995 A very rare 12" apparently!! Cheers, Mark R

Check Chris Walls out @ https://www.cityslickermusic.co.uk/ He had these at B'ham Hilton in May...............£60 I think. Site is a bit confusing to be honest, but as he is sponsoring the gig that you'll see mentioned there, I would hazard a guess that the phone number given there is his. Cheers, Mark R

We had some good nights didn't we Gav?.............I remember doing a bit for you there one night, in that 3rd room, at the back..............remember playing things like Glenn Underground "Your Life" amongst others. I think it was the night of the snow storm actually, as I seem to recall being concerned about when I might get home!! Terry, as I recall, you had lined me up as a guest on the night that got pulled when the venue closed!! Oh well. Didn't one part of the Bretby series kick off on a New Years Day one year?? Was that Dave's era............I think it might of been, but I didn't go to that "first night". Anyway, I think I frequented the event in all it's guises along the way.............remember the Goucher, Sam, Gav et al period real well. Would anyone care to try and do a potted history (kind of promoter versus year) for the various guises of this club. I know it started with Chris A, and his soul nights..........I think I only went to one of them as was very much into my modern by then. Some top tunes from the modern room would be nice to see too! Cheers, Mark R

Devil's advocate time...............but is this any more disrespectful to the artist than covering Wilbur Reynolds up as Carol Waller??? Cheers, Mark R
