  1. A class post dealing with so many of the issues and hypocrisy that I see in a scene that, despite which, I also defend to the hilt. Cheers, Mark R
  2. Just had an idea...............instead of just sitting at your computer tonight arguing with Mr Levine, connect to www.starpointradio.com at the same time and make use of the time listening to some tunes!! Listening figures would go through the roof!! Cheers, Mark R
  3. But, generally speaking Mark, those slower sounds had far more soul content than the other stuff, which is why I can never get it out of my head that NS is more about a "scene" and the records that fit it, than it is about "soul music"!! As I've said before, I have no issue with that, until those people try to tell me what soul music is!! Cheers, Mark R
  4. Quick reminder that it's last Monday in the month once again, so I'm in the hot seat tomorrow Monday, August 25th.............7-9pm at www.starpointradio.com. Cheers, Mark R

    Kashif

People are probably bored with me saying this, but "Rumors" was probably the single biggest tune that turned me towards contemporary soul when I was into the NS scene. When I bought the album and heard the rest of it, it just got better!! Fantastic memories............and to prove that hostilities between NS and MS scenes could be overcome, check out Adam playing the on the Leicester 2nd Anniversay video...............a chocablock dancefloor in the main hall!! Maybe those times are returning with the Michael Proctor/UBP tunes being spun in the Northern rooms now???? I'm sure some don't appreciate that, but I just want to hear good music, so it's fine by me. Check out Kashif's stuff........top man! Cheers, Mark R
  9. Not forgetting the recent Stereo Sushi Cd's Jock.............#13 just released this week. The last three have been chock full of winners!! Cheers, Mark R
  10. Pokey Cold.............a great 12" reminding me of summer '89, when you could hear these indie's on Robbie Vincent Radio 1 Saturday evening shows. Cheers, Mark R
  11. What a tune Simon............seems consigned to the wants list for a veeerrryy long time Cheers, Mark R
  12. Out of interest, how much did the Pictures fetch?? I bought it for £5 at Stoke All-Niter late 90's/early 00's, and saw it around the same time on a list at £100, so was never quite sure! Cheers, Mark R
  13. OK.............sorry for the delay on this, been getting wet in Cornwall this week with the family .............download of the show now available here: https://rcpt.yousendit.com/59429328...2054c129dfeb966 Cheers, Mark R

  17. Bang on!!............but to take it further, it's not that there's owt wrong stilll digging the old stuff (or the 80's pop shite )!!! I just can't personally imagine not liking the best of it all. Unthinkable.......the great music I would have missed. "Northern" Soul is a scene, a lifestyle, and the soul part is a minor concern for a good many I think. That's fine, but those people shouldn't presume to tell me what soul music is!! Cheers, Mark R
