  1. Hinckley Regent Club.......just down from the Leisure Centre............saw Martha & The Vandellas there one night when they should of appeared at Leisure Centre, but for some reason the venue got switched at the last minute (I think??) Cheers, Mark R
  2. Saw a Mr Soul on Tim Brown's (Anglo-Amarican) recent list.....min bid £1200 or something like that as I recall! Cheers, Mark R
  3. Yup, was a fairly regular spin for Dave Evison at that time..........that's where I first heard it, and if you thinks it's good in home Russ, wait until you hear it LOUD. Great memories for me this one. I'm sure I have it on a tape from Hinckley somewhere. My copy was quite noisy, so I bought another, but as I recall that wasn't that much better.........was that a trait of this pressing?? Still got both copies......must dig it out! Cheers, Mark R
  4. So sad to hear this news today. RIP Richard Mark Randle
  5. Epic, you been talking to our mutual friend Pete Mason?? Cheers, Mark R
  6. Having been confronted by the ad for this on the back of the latest Manifesto this morning, it got me thinking, and it's just so EMBARRASING, and IMHO is the exact opposite of respecting the old venue. What the hell must average people think? Wigan Casino 35th Anniversary.........give me a break!! For those that went and enjoyed (not me...too young....wish I could of!), let them remember it how it was, and just get on with what is good about todays soul scene. Cheers, Mark R
  7. Genuine question.......not loaded.......but is the "real one" a REAL ONE, if you see what I mean.........I'm guessing it is, as the label name mentioned on Traxsource is mentioned on the 12" label. Cheers, Mark R
  8. Eddie, Isn't the shot with you walking across the dance floor in a sheepskin and sporting your hold-all the best shot! Cheers, Mark R
  9. This was Dave in the early 2000's at a Togetherness Weekender..........clearly lost some of the youthfull exuberbence (ain't we all!).......took this pic for a bit of a laff!! Still got the beard you'll notice, if not quite as full!! Cheers, Mark R
  10. Dunno Mark...........it felt like I was wearing flippers mate by the time I got there after lots of pints of Nuneaton's finest I remember feeling the same at a Loughbrough niter at the town hall..............maybe that was another birthday Sorry for going O/T Russ.............back on track fellas Cheers, Mark R
  11. Mansfield Swan..............was that "Soul Power Soul Club"??...................if so, that's filled a gap for me, as I spent my 21st birthday at a nighter in Mansfield (late Nov '87), but could never remember the name of the place, just that it was "Soul Power Soul Club" as I recall............seem to recall a dingy, low ceiling place?? I was very drunk though..........it was an impromtu visit Tales to tell from that night as I was with some characters!!!!! Cheers, Mark R
  12. Wasn't this a Stafford spin?? Cheers, Mark R
  13. Great record.........if records like this were ignored because of (lack of??) dance floor appeal it would be a crime!! That's why, on reflection, the Stafford period was so good. If it reduces me to a quivering wreck, be it slow or fast, I can groove to it! Cheers, Mark R
  14. And that's my flyer I gave to you Chalky ..........can see the pinhole in the top where it was on my wall!! I think they ended up in a Manifesto a year or two back too. Cheers, Mark R
  15. Started in 82, no??? Cheers, Mark R
  16. I remember it Si, but not the date.........it was when the owner stopped the music and got on stage giving everyone a lecture they didn't want. We established a while ago that this was the last night. But the date...............? Cheers, Mark R
  17. Stella, did you not get the other two I posted a while back??? Cheers, Mark R
  18. OK, track listing as follows folks..............struggled with info on correct mixes, as although I did eventually find a listing, I hadn't included mix details. I've done my best to determine the mixes, short of digging out the 12's, which would be a task in itself!! So don't hold me to it.......as far as I recall, the Phuture Sole & the Sicania Soul are the only ones to be careful with, as each was released on 2 12's with different mixes. Rufuss feat. Yuanist Woods - This Could Be Love (EU Qalomota 12" "The Master & Apprentice E.P.") 280 West feat. Diamond Temple - Fly (280 West Mix) (US Phuture Sole 12") Knee Deep feat. Brooke Russel - I Won't Let You Down (Knee Deep Club Mix) (US Knee Deep 12") Gabriel Rene - Spirit (US Soulfuric W/L WMC 2004 Sampler 12") Dimitri from Paris feat. Omar - Strong Man (For Real) (EU Discograph 12") Terry Hunter feat. Charlotte Smalls - Follow You (Terry Hunter Main Mix) (US T's Box 12") Steal Vybe - A New Beginning (US Steal Vybe 12") Glenn Underground - Hard Tymes (US Eargasmic 12" "Archives E.P") Mena Keys - D.C. Solara - Sunshine (Sol Brilliante) (GJ's Nueva Soul Mix) (US More House 12") Chez Damier feat. Leroy Burgess - Your Love (Lifted Me Up) (Deep Vocal Mix) (US Track Mode 12") Kenny Bobien - Hiya Luv (JAP Victor CD "Keep Hope Alive") Loosefingers - When Summer Comes (US Alleviated 12") Cheers, Mark R
  19. I was double decking at Prestatyn with Girth this year ot last, and he pulled that and played it on that big system and it made my day........one of my faves. Cheers, Mark R
  20. Nice one Ted.......listing to follow mate! Cheers, Mark R
  21. List to follow mate...........it's no big secret, just don't have one ready to hand, and they are 4 year old tunes mate, positively ancient now I do remember what they all are, but want to get any mix info correct...........always important for these 12's. Cheers, Mark R
  22. A while ago I think I posted a couple of mixes I'd put together several years ago and they seemed quite popular. I certainly posted them on EMS. I found a further CD with one on, from September 2004, and thought it would be a nice Bank Holiday treat to post it up.............but I didn't do it in time!! But now it's here: https://rcpt.yousendit.com/600704045/bd532d...17dcac44718871f It's similar to the others.........soulful house, thru some deeper jazzy bits. I think the music speaks for itself.........but I would, or I wouldn't have put these tracks together would I?? You'll notice from the title of the file that I'm not really a mixer..........I find it doesn't help to take yourself too seriously!! I'll certainly never let that stop me from playing records of this quality. Hope you enjoy...........the first cut is especially for those that think house has nothing to do with soul music...........if you still think that after listening to track 1, then it's time to go back to "soul school" IMVHO. Enjoy, Mark R
  23. Listen again for August show now available here: https://rcpt.yousendit.com/600372405/ee36a0...8c2eef16c8c0a14 Enjoy!! Mark R
