I always think you need to be SUPREMELY confident to cover a tune up.............it's a bit of an embarrasment to be caught out!!(albeit in a non too serious sense, to take Mr Thorley's point about the fun aspect). Funniest thing that happened to me was at a modern gig............no names, no venue........but a fairly well respected DJ from back the 70's followed me and introduced a tune as one thing, commenced to play it and I turned to him and said "no it isn't, it's blah, blah, blah....." Should have seen his face..........you've got to be REALLY REALLY confident to cover-up a fairly recent tune..........I mean something 40 years old you have a chance of getting away with, but something which is a fairly recent release is another kettle of cocoa..... You'll spend a long time looking for 4 12" double packs!! To my disappointment there were only ever 3 released. The 4th, to complete the package, was delayed for some reason which escapes me (Fish could fill the blanks if he reads this), and in the end never did happen. A shame when you've bought the 3 (and the CD I might add!!) to complete the set.............always felt like a let down. So many of these BBE things I've bought on CD and vinyl.......CD for ease of listening and vinyl to pacify my addictions........I try to avoid adding the cost up as it upsets me!! LOL There's something nice about the BBE vinyl packages.....sturdy, well put together....... Mind you, Dewhirst has trumped all that with his Tom Moulton Philly remixes.............CD box set............3 or 4(?) double pack 12's..........and then the 12" box set. Customers like me must be his dream customer!! Don't tell anyone as I don't want a visit from the men in white coats!! Slightly off topic, but I do like this idea of vinyl with download card (e.g. the fab "Lady" LP).........that's the way to go I reckon...............covers ALL my requirements without excess expense............perfect!! As a new music lover, I kind of don't care in a way. But part of me DOES care because I understand totally. There's just toooo much of this isn't there.....it's not really what it's all about is it?? It's a real shame all things told...and half the time it's being done by folks who TOTALLY understand what it's all about! Cheers, Mark R

See, one of the things that sets Richard apart from others is that he love SOUL MUSIC, not just Northern Soul music. On the "Modern Soul" tip............. If you're interested in contemporary inspirational/gospel soul and it doesn't have to be vinyl, I can list loads!! Spot the melody........ Been a massive "ender" type tune at modern gigs since it's release........... Cheers, Mark R

Agreed.....CD definitely..........can't imagine having a vinyl addiction THAT bad that I would rather pay DOUBLE for the vinyl with far less tracks on than the CD version. Complete madness suggesting that the music perhaps comes second in priority to the format!! Cheers, Mark R

I never did Morecambe, but being a bit anoraky I recall a chart of Morecambe plays in Echoes and the Clevland Robinson was on that for sure. If anyone has that cutting that would help date it's Morecambe plays in a "certainly played before...." kinda way. Cheers, Mark R

Was it Paul Phillips with the story of the guy trying to flatten a badly warped copy? I reckon Paul's got one, but then what hasn't he got? Anyone got a link to the 12" soundfile? Not sure whether I've heard it and if I have I can't recall the difference. I suspect it's a little more of a intro/breakdown/outro which probably doesn't add a lot to the 7", but my reason for going for it would be to get that bass response a 12" cut allows. Cheers, Mark R

That's the baby mate. 10 years ago this would have been massive. I don't get around as much as I used to so may be wrong, but I'm not aware of this getting any significant play out.
