  2. And my 78 year old father-in-law thinks there is no good music after the 70's...... Cheers,, Mark R
  3. Actually, I think you'll find that the likes of Anthony Hamilton and Calvin Richardson are in charge in the 21st century. .....life goes on!! Cheers, Mark R
  4. Blimey, with the current pulling power/popularity of that record and profile of the event, we might well have witnessed a watershed moment! ! Only time will tell whether it's for the better or the worst! ! Cheers, Mark

I always thought the 12" was a UK released/distributed thing, not Canadian.....though I do know that Boomtang is a Canadian label...... The CD was certainly through something like Timewarp...... Cheers, Mark R
  6. Forgetting the "soul scene" as such, it's a great feel good song. They went like hot-cakes, and I was extremely lucky to be in the right place at right time. Good luck! Cheers, Mark R
  7. Mine went to Blue Max, I'll never forget that fact! He'd worn his previous copy out! R.I.P. Max Cheers, Mark R
  8. Out of date now, but you get the idea. ...... https://chicago.eventful.com/events/kid-dynamite-blues-band-p-/E0-001-037822900-2@2011040620 Cheers, Mark R
  9. In truth mate I wish I could remember more of the names, especilly the young dude in white, as for all we know he's a household name now. I recall that the tall flautist was Kitchener Henderson and the lady in the yellow/gold dress was something like Cheryl Barrells or such like. If that makes you jealous I won't tell you about seeing Kid Dynamite & The Chi-Town Hustlers at Kingston Mines in Chicago, or Tower Of Power at House of Blues Chicago or my tour of Chess Studios on the Southside........then of course thre's Grover Washington Jr, Joe Sample, Lee Ritenour et al at the Hollywood Bowl......joined on stage at one point by Randy Crawford singing "One Day I'll Fly Away." I've done a bit......but kids put paid to holidays like that......for now! ;-) Cheers, Mark R
  10. A memorable night................ Cheers, Mark R
  11. Yes, I've been.......amateur night on a Wednesday night May 2000. Unforgettable! Cheers, Mark R
  12. I guess the confusion is that Seattle is in Washington state.......NW coast of course, and nowhere near DC. My least favourite place I've visited Stateside......and I'm surprised there's any soul to be had from there! LOL Cheers, Mark R
  13. Makes the thread title a bit of a misnomer mate doesn't it? "Fall from grace" probably a bit strong and infers a new found inferiority!! We should be clear the thread is JUST about values, and not quality in the grooves. M&M would be as expensive as they come if price were based on tune quality alone! Cheers, Mark R
  14. Mind & Matter...... I remember someone fairly well know saying to me once "I paid £1,200 for mine and I ain't gonna see much of that back!" There's always a flip side to the coin......the "find" was great news for mortals like me! Cheers, Mark R
  15. For somewhere like that, I would have thought most of the Hed Kandi CD's would be perfect. If i has to be R&B/soul, then the Soul Lounge box sets or Togetherness comps will do the trick! Cheers, Mark R
  16. Hope nobody minds this here...........not Oddfellows, but I can't resist making someone's day 'cos I know exactly how good it feels myself when someone shares these things..........the following uploaded a few months ago from one of my old tapes.......... https://www.mixcloud.com/soulboymark/hinckley-leisure-centre-all-niter-live-december-1983/ Clive Jones, from 38:42 after Brian Rae to 1:08:16 where Dave Evison takes over. Enjoy!! Cheers, Mark R
  17. My immediate thought was Clive Jones, but I didn't recall him DJ'ing at Oddfellows. Ally, gotta ask you.....was your stall just inside the indoor market called "Oddity Records"? It's so long ago that I can't recall exactly, but used to love visits to Leicester to your stall and Rudzi's place! Lot's of my early 45's, and possibly LP's, came from you guys! Cheers, Mark R
  18. It's just the time involved mate........Prestatyn radio show is next priority, but there'll be some of these on there I'm sure! Also, to be honest, I wouldn't just put an unmixed podcast together of just tunes so that everyone gets free music........not fair on the guys that make it! Cheers, Mark R
  19. Just thought I'd share the flip side to that Pharrell Williams 45............ Cheers, Mark R
  20. Dells @ Trentham. ....pretty untouchable! Cheers, Mark R
  21. Cheers Matt, yes KOT is a great record mate! Cheers, Mark R
  22. Thanks Steve....it does take a while to put together!! Cheers, Mark R
  23. Would have been Children Of The World Roots Mix but that was in last years. In truth I should have listed several cuts from it, as I did in ny weekly rundown on EMS, but decided to stick a pin in !! LOL Cheers, Mark R
  24. Just finished putting together my charts looking back at my most memorable cuts of 2013 covering soul and soulful/deep/jazzy on CD/12"/7" & MP3 etc so I thought I might share them here for the few with a liking for the new releases. The lists don't format well when pasted from Word, so I've just attached the jpg's instead.......click to open! Last year was a great year for new music............. Cheers, Mark R
