  4. Interesting that Blackburn made reference to having tried to get the music more airtime over the years but that it's not been easy!! Cheers, Mark R

  6. Another brilliant two hours, and as I said on Facebook, what and inspired piece of DJ'ing squeezing some Jill Scott into a prime time R2 spot by playing her cover of Bill Withers. Superb show..... Cheers, Mark R
  7. Just a wee reminder about tonight's festive one-off edition of The Music Box, 5-7pm GMT at www.starpointradio.com Hope some of you can join me...... Cheers Mark R
  8. BTW, I was very lucky to end up catching this, and thought it was great.......and Gene Chandler did sound mighty fine!! Cheers, Mark R
  9. You beat me too it mate.........of course there's been no soul out of Chicago since the 70's/80's!! :-) Cheers, Mark R
  10. Hi folks, Hope some of you can join me for a festive edition of The Music Box on Starpoint Radio on Tuesday 23rd December between 5 & 7pm..............it's been a while!! Cheers, Mark R
  11. Not being a Northern doo frequenter, I also didn't realise that Soulutions was getting played in NS venues. Is this widely the case, or regional/venue releated? Who is responsible for pushing this on that scene? I can understand how it 'fits' the NS scene beat/style wise, but thereby lies the slight frustration for me......so many great records overlooked because they don't fit a beat pattern. Doesn't really matter so long as those records make it in the modern rooms, but some even struggle to get airplay in that environment........ Cheers, Mark R
  12. But danceability and quality aren't mutually exclusive.............. Cheers, Mark R
  13. I know Mark, but by definition, people on niche music scenes like ours should never be afraid to go against mass opinion!! Cheers, Mark R
  14. Hi folks, Hope some of you can join me for a festive edition of The Music Box on Starpoint Radio on Tuesday 23rd December between 5 & 7pm..............it's been a while!! Cheers, Mark R
  15. If it keeps it out of the modern rooms then that's great! Good records get left out at the expense of rubbish like this..............if you want to hear a good Bob Sinclair tune, try "Darlin'" feat. D-Train.......... Though I realise here we are talking Northern rooms, where the latter wouldn't fit........... Cheers, Mark R
  16. And I turned down a Troy Dodds @ £75 off Steve Kennedy (R.I.P.) back in the 80's! Cheers, Mark R
  17. I realise that mate......it's a free world and folk can bid what they like. Just spoils it for the rest of us. ...... Cheers, Mark R
  18. I think the price is astounding too, but are thumping dancers the only records that qualify to be worth big money? I don't understand that logic at all, and actually think it's a sad reflection on just why people like/want a tune........ On a serious note this just puts these records out of the reach of us mortals......a real shame.... Cheers, Mark R
  19. Might help..... Cheers, Mark R
  20. Hi Fluff, yes I do! ! Wouldn't have known it was the Anniversary one though. That might have been the night I keeled over in the queue.....bit of a blur now. I went to one which was a packer and I wasn't too well and the crush of the queue did for me. The only time that kind of thing has ever happened to me.....bizarre! Cheers, Mark R
  21. Blimey, didn't know that! To be honest, it's a few years ago now so I can understand that it might of just caught the tail end of the major label promo 12"..... Cheers, Mark R
  22. Was this really on a 12"? Good record! Cheers, Mark R
  23. Same supplier? Cheers, Mark R
  24. I used to get show tapes sent and my mate always used to write on tge case "featuring Richard's latest best ever xxx!" LOL Cheers, Mark R
  25. Don't want to end up off topic, so just one comment on this from me. You can't have it both ways......the original is CD, the vinyl is a copy........what would you say if I played my 7's off CDR? I'm pretty sure that would be frowned upon. What's the difference? Is it about vinyl or original format? For other threads really.... Cheers, Mark R
