  1. Good shout! I do use card in various ways when packing tunes into boxes etc. Never thought to simply "pad out" a box full of 45's with it though. Cheers, Mark R
  2. This raises a good point.......I sometimes worry about not enough 45's in a box, and any negative affect of that, but of course too many is not good either............is there an ideal? Full with a bit of shuffling room is best I guess? Cheers, Mark R
  3. OK, thanks Mike! Cheers, Mark R
  4. Also re-issue vinyl is translucent in the light........see through!! Cheers, Mark R
  5. Just love finding stuuf like this......important history and I know some on here will appreciate this. Levan interview starts around 41mins....... Cheers, Mark R
  6. It does mate.......and yes, I do find the subject fascinating! Cheers, Mark R
  7. I think it's a "shame" that DJ's who used to play relatively funky new releases like this back in the day.....and have no issue with telling us so when the opportunity arises before anyone berates me for saying this.......seem to have largely given up on new releases unless they sound like they were produced in the 60's or 70's!! Is it an age thing......comfort zone. ......vinyl availability. .....or just gave up? Don't tell me "it's because there are no good new releases"! ! Cheers, Mark R
  8. SOS boot also has Alfie Davidson on the flip. .....I have that and a 12"......no 45...... Cheers, Mark R
  9. Very sad, really rocked me yesterday this news. As a brother in soul and a devoted fan of once non-league Morecambe Town we had much in common to talk about. It struck me how well Sean faced up to, and dealt with his illness, an inspiration to us all. No one to tell me about Gez Murphy's winning goal for Nuneaton against Morecambe now.....that ALWAYS got a mention! :-) R.I.P. Sean, sleep well mate x Mark R
  10. Cheers Johnners.....I do try.....in fact, some say I'm very trying! Cheers, Mark R
  11. Thanks Sian....always a pleasure!
  12. Cheers Mart.......cod liver oil is my recommendation!
  13. Thanks to everyone for supporting my set last night.......there's a healthy number of people willing to accept all of the music below in the main room at Rugby, which is nice to see! Thanks to Sian for the invite to play there again. Here's the music......the first four caused a bit of head scratching amongst those who know me! LOL 12:00am – 1:00am The Steve Karmen Big Band feat. 14. I get a kind of "sad but somewhow inevitable" feeling when I see "1 per customer" on Juno. Greed! Cheers, Mark R
  15. Yep, another "1 per customer" release at Juno! Cheers, Mark R
  16. I have got mine, had it weeks in fact, but it didn't come with the M-Pac! bonus 45. It's a while ago now but I think the omission of the 45 was down to the pressing plant......can't remember for sure though. I was told the 45 will follow ASAP. In my experience Will is ace to deal with, and only last week he responded with a thank you email after I messaged him to point out that the M-Pac! download version that comes with the LP had x2 tracks missing. He was going to speak with the outfit that handle the download side and get it rectified. My experience tells me that any issue with this will be genuine and the LP's will come as promised. Cheers, Mark R

  18. I haven't been following this, so apologies if I cover old ground with any comments. I understand very well the "rules" the scene tries to implement in this respect, and pretty much agree with them. I certainly have my own standards on the rare occasion I'm asked to play at such an event (though reserve the right to use my CD-R's if I think the equipment is shite!). However, I do think the scene needs to look inwardly now and again and question it's motives etc. Even if it means nothing changes, it pays to view things with an open mind. When doing so, many searching and thought provoking questions come to mind, so it's worth doing so just to "check" yourself. As such, do promoters who hold the view that OVO is paramount thrust themselves forward to pay their DJ's the kind of fee that is commensurate with collecting rare vinyl.........whatever fee might be deemed appropriate...........certainly more than their petrol money!! I doubt it.......but OVO is SOOOO important! Cheers, Mark R
  19. R.I.P. Souther Soul/Blues man Mel Waiters. Here's my favourite Mel track, lifted from what I thinks was his first album, from the days of the cassette tape compilations when we used to put each other onto the latest tunes. My mate Reece Sestak from London loves this little two-stepper from one of my cassettes from way back when! Sleep well Mel, and thanks for the music! x
  20. My missus went to school with founding member Neil Sheasby (bass) and Phil Ford (drums - if it's the same Phil Ford but she suspects it must be). The connection is basically the town of Atherstone where they both come from (and the Mrs obviously), and although it makes no mention of it in their blurb, I'm pretty sure The 'Stone' Foundation comes from a shortening of Atherstone! It all traces back to some of the band being in a group The Dance Stance way back around the town. Interestingly, Neil also does record fares. I know SS likes a bit of trivia/history behind it's music, so thought it worth mentioning! Cheers, Mark R
  21. My recent set recorded LIVE!! @ Soul Fusion.............two options: https://www.mixcloud.com/soulboymark/mark-randle-live-soul-fusion-saturday-16-may-2015/ https://starpointsoulboy.podomatic.com/entry/2015-05-26T07_39_22-07_00 Cheers, Mark R
