  3. I need to check mine with this info, thanks. I have several records which I bought back in the day when I just liked a tune or not, and before I cared about all of this which may or may not be original malarkyl! Cheers, Mark
  4. This is a tune!! Reminds me of something else Dave but I can't for the life of me think what!! Cheers, Mark R
  5. My Ruby Wilson on UK Magnet is sooooo crackly! :-( Good stuff Sean! Cheers, Mark R
  6. That's what I thought.......30 years since and our memories fade!! Cheers, Mark R
  7. Has this been mentioned as I see releases of questionable origin have already been mentioned? Cheers, Mark R
  8. And yes, I too have to wonder where these young guns get the money to fund the collections they seem to have! Fair play to 'em like, but you do have to wonder...... Cheers, Mark R
  9. Do we really think that any DJ on this scene who isn't a significant promoter can afford not to work as a result of their DJ fees (assuming they're not of retirement age of course!)? Cheers, Mark R
  10. History or English I thought??? And wasn't RS a buyer for Morrisons most recently before retirement? Cheers, Mark R
  11. A grand I reckon, but just make sure it ain't one of these had the rough-up/promo stamp treatment! https://www.discogs.com/King-Tutt-D-a-n-c-i-n-Youve-Got-Me-Hung-Up/release/4985715 Cheers, Mark R
  12. Blimey! Who let that fox in?! LOL How's things Robin? Cheers, Mark R
  13. Cheers, and you were probably not alone I guess!! Cheers, Mark R
  14. A little something from the last Prestatyn in the event you missed it or weren't there...........
  15. Dunno about a con, I just think it's sad that so much of it is driven by DJ'ing/dance floor reaction and investment. Not a great reflection on the wonderful music that.......surely it's about the tunes you personally love and want to own!! And anyway, there's nowt clever about amassing and playing out a load of dead cert biggies is there......that's just about money, not selection and dedication.....or having an 'ear'. Anyone with money can do that. And why the need to be a DJ anyway?......money and records doesn't make you a DJ in the truest sense.......or maybe it does on the NS scene????? And the cynic in me can't help but think that some that say they love the music certainly seem to like the money associated with it more..... Cheers, Mark R
  16. Just got both LP sets off Fish. BBE packages are always done nicely.......good stuff indeed! Cheers, Mark R
  17. Depends how hard you look Dave........I don't hear any duds here, and I doubt many of them happen to have been released the same week................and it was a top 30 in its entirety, and has been a 40 in previous years. There's still rarely a week where there's nothing very worthwhile to be had, and even more so if you don't limit yourself to Traxsource and/or downloads. But I must admit it isn't as prolific as that 2002-2005 golden period if that's what you're comparing to? And I doubt I bought anything that wasn't better than Hi-Fi Sean, and I buy quite a lot!! LOL Cheers, Mark R
  18. You know, the irony IMHO is that invariably the more contemporary uptempo stuff picked up by those on the Northern scene are the ones that I wouldn't touch with a barge pole! I'm not trying to make enemies here, but make of that what you will......it's a fact! If folk listened to some of the brilliant house being released on a weekly basis instead of listening out only for things that somehow have a retro feel/content then they would be opening their minds up to a wealth of brilliance! Of course, above all most on here don't want any of this electronic music ramming down their throats and that's completely understandable. But if you do take an interest in it, I would say do it and yourselves justice! Cheers, Mark R
  19. Paul Goldsmith set now added!! Cheers, Mark R Colin Curtis now added........you might know him! Cheers, Mark Sam Evans and myself closing set now added. Cheers, Mark R
  20. All, Have been dripping out the live recordings of the Main Room at the Christmas Soul Purpose over the last few days but forgot to post them here. I've posted four of seven so far, links below. Some bloody good music/sets here on the contemporary tip, with more good stuff to follow over the next three days so keep 'em peeled!! Cheers, Mark R
  21. I think you;re right to suspect there's more to it than just the above, but don't rule out the above................think of the effective point load on that record off that stylus with it's minimal contact patch, quite significant I think, then the speed effects (back-cueing).......the lower tolerance to heat of the styrene material...........add it all up and......... Cheers, Mark R
  22. Exactly like I said the other day I think..........if you don't want to use the weight, buy a different stylus........setting a weight below that specified for the cart ain't the answer!! Cheers, Mark R
  23. Yes, but as I recall he never got the hero worship others seemed to garner........that's kinda what I meant........probably down to a more unassuming nature on his part..... Cheers, Mark R
  24. Think seriously about the records Pat played back then..........seriously underrated DJ I think..... Cheers, Mark R
