  1. I know of someone who got circa $350 for the 2nd Pages on eBay approx 5 years back and I believe he made the provenance of the record quite clear!! Cheers, Mark R
  2. Lovely record! Cheers, Mark R
  3. Sounding great Dave/John......another one to the collection! Cheers, Mark R
  4. What a crock........I perfectly understand the OVO/rare scene and respect it, but it's no excuse for talking rubbish. Things are just different, doesn't make anyone (necessarily) any less of a DJ! Cheers, Mark R
  5. Oh no, sad to hear this, knew Darren & Caroline from the Winsford days. My thoughts go out to Caroline and the family Mark Randle
  6. Couple of things happened recently to make me dig around for this old recording which I've never shared before. Firstly, I heard that Mick O'Donnell's show on Solar had come to an end. This kinda coincided with a few posts on Facebook about events.....what gets played and in what room and all that stuff that in truth is often talked about. This is from 10 years back when Mark Merry, Steve Dolan and myself went to 209 radio in Cambridge to guest on Mick's Soul Discovery Show. Lot's of great music and some heavy debate about the "scene" which, having listened back to and in light of recent discussions on Facebook, I felt needed resurrecting and documenting. Make of it what you will........it's long but worth a listen when you have the time...... Mostly just us playing some (then) current faves for the first 1hr 45mins, after which the debate starts.......... Cheers, Mark R
  7. We are at cross purposes here mate. I wasn't thinking back to the Palmetto St release. I was talking about the Ben Pardani release as that's what I thought you meant! So I was saying that there would be no difference in the two batches of Pardani on Juno.....May 14 release and today's re-stock. I'm sure there will be a difference between the original Right direction 45's and the new Pardani ones..... Cheers, Mark R
  8. That's now back in too..... Cheers, Mark R
  9. I have no idea! Coming in so soon after the first batch, does it matter? Surely they would be from the same stamper so there is actually no way of telling/seeing them as a 2nd press??? Cheers, Mark R
  10. Back in.....be quick! https://www.juno.co.uk/products/ben-pirani-light-of-my-life/688081-01/
  11. Hi folks, there are a few recordings from last weekend's Soul II Sole gig in Hinckley with special guest DJ Solar Radio's Paul Phillips now uploaded across both Podomatic and Mixcloud, depending on your preference and whether you want to just stream or prefer to download to a device. As there are several sets I'll just share general links to my pages, but the new uploads are obviously top of the pile so nice and easy to locate. https://starpointsoulboy.podomatic.com/ Hope you find something you enjoy! Cheers, Mark R
  12. It's embarrassing really!! Cheers, Mark R
  13. For those that like a bit of quality deep, soulful and jazzy house..... https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/starpointsoulboy/episodes/2018-05-01T23_35_44-07_00 Cheers, Mark R
  14. Just the worst news isn't it Steve. A top man in all respects and a good friend. RIP Cluggy.
  15. Nice new tune is the understatement of the year........I'm struggling to think of a better newly released old sounding tune in recent years.......Lady Wray maybe???? Simply fabulous! Cheers, Mark R
  16. Anybody got a "spare" Sophie Lloyd/Dames Brown "Calling Out" 7" for a sensible price or preferably some kind of trade please? Cheers, Mark R
  17. Withdrawn? Really? Glad I jumped in at the time..........never likely to own a £3k original so for me at home it'll do! ;-) Cheers, Mark R
  18. It's a bit tenuous whether this should be posted here, but in terms of re-edit business how good is this tweak on Carl Carlton...........already out of stock! https://www.juno.co.uk/products/dj-reverend-morgan-avenue-edits-no-4/671372-01/ Cheers, Mark R
  19. My favourite old previously unreleased thing recently......great double sider.....in fact the flip could be anything from the best of Phyllis Hyman's 70's catalogue....... The last cut is my favourite new, new sound but is only any use if you're not obsessed with vinyl. It crossed my mind how similar the keys are on this to Al Hudson "Spread Love" which in turn got me thinking bout the bigotry of some folk who would proclaim to love Al but wouldn't give this the time of day because it's not on vinyl and/or wasn't made in the 70's. Pathetic really...... Cheers, Mark R
  20. There are advantages to spending a Sunday snowbound! ;-) https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/starpointsoulboy/episodes/2017-12-11T13_58_38-08_00 Enjoy!, Mark R
  21. Dells £180! I think us mortals can forget chasing some of these records now! LOL
  22. Ah, right.....gotcha. Fair comment......I used to do the same in Blues & Soul etc. Cheers, Mark R
  23. Well there's certainly no need to buy blind now with t'interweb, that is one good thing about the technology shift! Cheers, Mark R
  24. These conversations a largely futile on here. With the odd exception, most on here only like "black" or "soul" music that sounds like it was recorded years ago..........times change, some people don't. Cheers, Mark R
  25. Mark 'Wiganer1' Freeman is your man for this. I'll be amazed if he doesn't already have a concise & accurate list! Cheers, Mark R
