  1. That Four Vandals video is one of the most embarrassing things I've ever seen. Are they dancing in someones garden? Regardless of any concerns with the actual music itself, the presentation is abysmal. They look like they are taking the piss. Which they probably are. That can't really be the 'best' that the Four Vandals can perform? Wheres the class and sophistication and downright cool?? Watch Don Bryant on The Beat!! for example, its so cool it actually hurts. That FV video just hurts the eyes. Compare to the real deal....Eddie Hill performing Baby I Cried or The Radiants, Lou Rawls & The Four M's on The Beat!! ect.
  2. Dave Flynn had a Charles Holiday for sale just before Cleggy for £750...Tim has/had one on auction....someone had one for sale on here a while back (Stromberg maybe?) Mental slice of crossover magic. Would love one. The Artus Satterfield is a pile of poop though isn't it. He sounds like he has been drinking from the same bottle as the Reverend George Morton.
  3. Thanks Mark Will PP you now. Have also sent you a PM...
  4. Pretty much bang on for most of them i would of thought?
  5. Hi does anyone have a VG+ upward copy of this for sale please? Many thanks! JM
  6. 'When I was at school there was this swotty effeminate kid who used to get picked on all the time. His dad was minted and I remember him going out one weekend and buying every single colour Pringle jumper available at the time in a bid to ingratiate himself with the lads who had picked on him. He even gave a few away to his new-found friends. He was the indisputable Pringle King, he even started to get a bit cocky. Of course, time marched on, Pringles went out and as he couldn't really go to the match he was always too late in picking up on how the fashions had changed. He was no longer the Pringle King, just the chubby kid who lived in a newsagents. I felt a bit sorry for him sometimes but then remembered how cocky he'd been. I saw him recently walking around town in his Yellow Diamond jumper, were nearly forty now so we're all grown up and stuff, I stopped him and asked how he was doing. Turns out he'd bought a small factory and some old jumper designs and was producing the "Bringle Dyamond" in an effort to introduce a new generation to the wonders of wooly golfwear. I told him it wouldn't work, that the Dyamond Bringle was a poor imitation of the original but he wouldn't have it. He refused to move on. So I moved on. I don't know what reminded me of that.' classic
  7. I hope Alfie Allen surprises in it as his public persona singles him out as a bit of a tool. Would be nice to have people in it worthy of the records.
  8. The Little Major Williams was buggered tho...had a skip and was graded by Manx at 4- his lowest grade. I stuck a punt on though as the skip side was Girl Don't Leave Me (brilliant as well) and he often grades very conservatively i've found....saw a VG+ JT Rhythm he sold and it was easily a minter.... Had a go on that VG Willie Tee on light blue Gatur (best version of it) that went for about £110!! Worth a go if it turns up and plays ok....
  9. Damn! Been after the Embers...
  10. Thought High On You was much harder than BCYS, more in the region of £400 odd for a tidy HOY?? Or am I way over the mark?
  11. Hi still after one of these please VG+ upward! Thanks! JM
  12. Thanks J-Brew! PM me for price/payment ect...thanx!
  13. Hi does anyone have one of these for sale VG+ upward please? Thanks! JM
  14. I have Can't You See but agreed, High On You a better record, if different. Both very good examples of modern soul in their own right. Think I heard Marc F. play CYS out at the 100 a while back??
  15. Wee Willie Walker Little Willie Johnson Anything with Willie in really.... Also, Primbock Skiggs,?
  16. Some modern faves: Second Res$urection - You Done Let Daylight Catch You Copeland Davis Group - Morning Spring Fluorescent Smogg - All My Life Topics - Rose Jean Carn - My Love Don't Come Easy Benny Troy - I Wanna Give You Tomorrow Innersection - I'm In Debt To You Major Lance - You're Everything I Need That Lady Margo on Cynthia mentioned in a list earlier is brilliant btw!
  17. Boba had one for sale on here not long ago....definitely in Tim's guide, and a pic of it on the Crossover page.
  18. What a record Leonard Adair is, absoultely fabulous
  19. Always too cheap to those that have got it.....the right price to those that haven't. Somewhere in between is good as we all know JM's auction prices can be a bit mental no offense to the big man himself.....Lee Fields anyone?
  20. Had this for a while as well, the whole intro to 36-22-36 is fantastic. Great jazzy mod club sound. Sod to DJ with though, I always used to forget I'd put the speed to 33....
  21. Nope but just wondered as I'm sure he said on Modculture he had turned some up before...(think it was on the playlists thread a while back but might be wrong...)
  22. I bought Million Dollars Worth Of Rare Soul Vol. 1 off https://www.doowopshoobop.com/ recently for The Out-Of-Sights and its worse than a Goldmine comp. Completely compressed and muffled, sounds like a ripped recording from Soulclub! Do not buy their CDs! Rarest 200 on Goldmine is appalling too, particularly Conquistadors, Celebrities and Margaret Little...you can actual hear the tinny compression going on. And they retail at £16 or something!!! Rare Soul Review is marginally better, but Robert Tanner on that is f*cked. Amazing when you think of the quality of the re-mastering on the Kent comps....
  23. Does this mean a VERY good??
  24. Think the originals are purple matte label on moulded over vinyl??
  25. Did you have any luck with Michael Callum?
