  1. Funk side: https://www.divshare.com/download/16247559-02c Sweet side:
  2. Very rare DC uptempo funk group soul crossed with a sought after sweet side - EX condition Can supply sound clip from a beaten up copy, needless to say NOT from the copy for sale. Usually seen in VG or less. Offers please..... Many thanks!
  3. Wanted in VG+ or upward please - missed the one on here recently. Ta!
  4. I suppose the lure of a packed dancefloor to a record like this though is what drives it's price (notwithstanding rarity). It obviously has something that appeals or it would be clearing floors rather than creating 'whistling and rounds of applause.'
  5. To be fair its the luck of the draw isn't it? When people are applauding a record you like / have everyone's happy as larry. It's only a few gobby people's (me included) opinion anyway. I'd rather have a few c*nt a record off on here and it go down as well as this apparently does in club nights then vice versa - and god knows i've had to deal with the latter enough times
  6. Well it sounded to me like Pete did and quite frankly i'd rather be associated with a Spandau Ballett record then either of the two mentioned here....so in that respect f*ck yes peddaling like mental.
  7. Why? i never suggested I liked the marty thompson one did I? Would of thought it was obvious it was a jibe at the other 45 but maybe not.....
  8. I put the Marty Thompson one up as a laugh! To be fair though Pete I have no reason to defend JC as i don;t rate it personally but we aren't 30 years ago, we're now so can't see how thats relevant? J
  9. Would i be right in saying that the split on who does and doesn't like this 45 is that it's mostly mod club regs who really like it? - and that would follow at least in my experience of people who are into it. I can see why it has appeal in terms of the backing and structure of the record in those terms. Not totally convinced by the big ending but if it has an actual club night following then it's done a hell of a lot better than a whole bunch of records I wish had the same effect, so good on it. For some reason it reminds me of Whirlpool by Marty Thomson.......
  10. Not a fan of the Capree either. Can understand its appeal to certain dancefloors though - and clearly very rare.
  11. Ken> No way! Good News is like one of the best soul records ever! Hope you are well btw mate.
  12. I agree - I certainly think it would be brave to stick the funk side on at a large venue - much more suited to smaller clubs. And agree lots of overlooked 60s out there as well. Without getting into the whole well trodden funky sounds debate again I think the reason for some for the funk stuff being played isn't just because of a lack of 60s - that would be doing it an injustice - a lot (including myself) actually like funkier soul records - not more than anything else, just as well as 60s soul etc - and now seems the time to finally get to hear some of them out, with plenty (not all - granted) of crowd approval. May well be at it's zenith now and the next trend will emerge - this is what keeps the scene fresh in terms of music imho.
  13. 'Think records of this ilk just highlight the lack of quality 60's dancers coming through, I mean records still turning up but not enough and DJ's etc having to look elsewhere.' Not entirely sure what can be done about this - if there are no more there are no more. Perhaps the scene has to change it's mindset or look to those with the access to unissued recordings for their more traditional northern 60's fix? I'm being devil's advocate here btw and not sure myself what the answer is.
  14. It does seem to be crossover and 70s where the volume of quality is still solid to be fair. I've no particular allegiance to the Tornadoes 45 (I like it but I might be quite put out if i'd paid £750 for it) but there's a lot worse i've heard played out in the past and recently. Has anyone given the more northern side a try at Lifeline? (will DEFFO be there for the anniversary btw). J
  15. I'd agree with you the funk side is well aimed at tricker footwork - thats why I think its more suited in reality to maybe mod dance floors due to it's pace and style. Was interested to see how it would go down played out and it went alright - might see what happens with the flip in future. Would be interested to know what reaction jocks like dave etc have been getting from it played out. Wasn't suggesting of course you would have to like every record played at Lifeline btw, just trying to get a handle on where this 45 is at in terms of airing - been way too long since I last got up to the Stables.
  16. Isn't Mick playing this up at Lifeline though Chalky? He has been playing it recently I believe, certainly did at the 100 he last jocked at. Not that should make you like it of course but I thought this was already established as a new sound in rare rooms? I don't think it's a case of one record meaning 'this is the state we've been reduced to' - thats a bit harsh! Shitloads of of more trad northern 45s and crossover that are newer still being found and played - look at all the new unissued 60's Ady has just unearthed....or indeed talking of Mick that mental Thelma Wilson thing... Anyway I guess the dance floor will decide.
  17. Was Cuca a related label Steve - still yet to hear the Devils on that label.
  18. Mick H has been playing this for a good few years - amazing 45!
  19. Interesting - I love the good stuff but I've seen some mid 80s nightmare 45s go for tons
  20. George> People keep saying the bottom is falling out of the market but as far as i can see everything is as expensive at it ever was! Even the big beat ballads still command good money and that sound is totally out of vogue - rubbish synth boogie as well - its all still expensive!
  21. Only relevant i guess if you've bought the 45 as an 'investment' rather than because you like it.....
  22. Funk side getting rare soul scene action (sounds good with ricky allen btw)
