I've only ever Heard (pun intended) good things about Burnley, and certainly some dashingly good soul 45s seem to have been championed there, but I would say that repeatedly going on about any venue whilst c*nting other people off is a particularly bad form of advertising and not fair on the venue, the punters or the DJs who've made it great.

Yes I suppose that is right to a degree - I was just mucking about obviously but I just think that sometimes the whole thing in an online sense can seem massively negative - which is in stark contrast to the vibe of most nights i've ever attended in the real world be they oldies or newies, funk etc etc. I would like to point out that i'm not ragging this site in particular; as a fairly long standing member I think is a great resource for all things soul. Of course we can't all like the same stuff, I appreciate that, but I think Bob had a very good (and amusingly put) point. I worry about how it all looks to the scant new blood (be they young, old....whatever). J

The point Bob made is completely right, but it's not actually the fact of the ranting and going on about what is and isn't shit, it's the repetitive constant nature of the same threads saying the same stuff over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. I had some real good nights at Deep Funk, although the comment about only the DJs being in on it seems very accurate from a punter's perspective. Having said that there were some awesome records played.
