Another amazing night at Padiham Town Hall. Meeting up with many old friends in a great venue, which boasts a superb dancefloor that didn't need much enticing to shuffle onto, especially when the brilliant DJs dropped the needle on 5 hours of top northern, motown , club soul and R'n'B vinyl. A big thank you to Bob and Kath Ashcroft, not forgetting Roman and his team of DJs. Roll on 11th May to experience the same atmosphere, hoping all our knees and hips don't let us down.

Just in case, the date has not been posted, the BBC Proms are scheduled to broadcast the Northern soul event on Saturday 26th August on BBC Two

What a missed opportunity. Within the top 500 northern soul tracks of all time, there are some that are aptly named and some that have used classical music elements. As the Royal Albert hall is the renowned home of classical music in Britain, I would have included 'Bok to Bach', 'A lover's Concerto', 'I hear a symphony', 'Soul symphony' and even the lesser known track 'Till the end of time' by Joe Buckman which is based on Frédéric Chopin's Polonaise in A flat major, Op. 53, the "Polonaise héroique". Wish I had attended as I thoroughly enjoyed the unique event, which in the main did justice to the music that I love from my youth to the present day.

Great event with atmosphere and dedicated followers of all various genre of soul music. Several DJs playing tracks from their private collections to delight many knowledgeable lovers of the music from their past. I was privileged to play a set to an appreciative audience. Hoping this event goes from strength to strength.

Thanks Gold Band as my list was concerned with up tempo versions of the title, your list has actually made me aware of 3 tracks that could be played as dance tracks. Bobby Womack Brenda Holloway ( Same song as The Seven Souls) Prophets

To all you information gatherers, I thought I'd compile a list of one song title that has been used on a number of northern soul tracks. Most of them are well known quality sounds.
