  1. Whilst I admire their musicianship I think they are missing a trick in not moving forward creating something new and fresh. If want to listen to retro, I will go to the source and not an echo of the past. Speaking of the past, who is singing on this gem:
  2. What's your best new northern record of the year 2023? Not a reissue or a discovery but a brand-new release this year. Here is mine.
  3. Corralejo 1.50 euros to 3 euros a pint of Dorado, food great, there are many places to eat and restaurant prices less than the UK.
  4. What is your current favourite label, releasing records? Mine is Athens Of The North.
  5. Roy's Records on Brick lane on Sunday gets good disco stuff.
  6. There are probably loads of African gems waiting to be unearthed. This would have been a monster back in the day.
  7. Are there any other new northern soul labels like kimberlite?
  8. In reply to Roburt, at least at those concerts, you got the original singers. The proms you didn't. They could have invited Eddie Holman over for one They missed a good opportunity for the BBC there.
  9. That guy murdered Landslide but the music is superb, the orchestra
  10. As the proms is known for its Orchestra- all instrumentals would have satisfied everybody. I understand why cover versions of sacrosanct songs annoy people.
  11. I like the way they have done it. https://isleofjura.bandcamp.com/track/never-gonna-give-you-up-jura-soundsystem-special-version ignore found it mad record. https://www.discogs.com/release/1455574-Shiva-20-Minute-Workout-The-Original-Music
  12. beautiful song
  13. The thread that refuses to die:)
  14. My friend Erin , when he remixed, Candi's You got the love with Jamie Principle , gave her a right boost again.
  15. Was the original played on the modern scene? Sounds like something Searling would have played. This edit is not bad.
  16. keep going, one of my favourite shows to catch up with new sounds.
  17. Hopefully, one day in the future, you will break a record first at your own venue :)
  18. Shaafi try and follow what Curtis and Levene, and Soul Sam did to some extent. Keep pushing new records, go forward and drop records which would have been played at the Casiino or the Mecca, don't get lost in nostalgia. Two for me would have been Ten City- That's the way love is- Moodyman- The Thief That stole my Sad Days
  19. It's a shame its not celebrated more .
  20. And by the photos at least the kids are not facing the DJ. https://www.instagram.com/p/CrA9ncYs0mM/ For the people there, well done, don't allow old people in I say;)
  21. I used to be on another forum,- not music related and you couldn't get on it unless you got referred by an existing member of a long standing . You had to get people to vouch for you.
