Few copies still passing hands for good money though. Darren at RareNorthernSoul sold an EX copy for 2150 quid early last year and Popsike has a couple selling for around $3000 back in 2021? Price is what people will pay I guess. Great Sound. In my Top Twenty. -

Well the only NM copy I can see at the moment is on Sevens, ponty on Discogs has it for £35. 2 others at £39.95. Can't find anything on Soulhawk. I had to go to the States for my copy of Sweet Darlin' on Soulhawk. Happy Hunting' - grab it quick I might be tempted myself! Angus

What Makes A Record Auction-worthy?
Angus Westfields replied to Ageing Face's topic in All About the SOUL
Undoubtedly there are receptive sellers and those who will not negotiate. Personally I buy nothing unless I can buy for the price I want to pay, or ideally less, whether that means a negotiation or not. It is right to walk away if the price is NOT right for you. Sad, but right. Patience is essential and remembering anything is only worth whatever someone is prepared to pay for it. -
What Makes A Record Auction-worthy?
Angus Westfields replied to Ageing Face's topic in All About the SOUL
I think you have to be so careful when deciding if the one you hold is 'THE' one that attracts such a 'nice' price. Quite often there are so many versions and far too many illegal/unofficial pressings, some of which are collectible in their own right, but it can make it difficult to determine whether the one you hold is valuable or not. A good example would be The Younghearts A Little Togetherness. They come up regularly on EBay, but trying to determine which exact version it is, ain't that easy. And sometimes I prefer to buy from a trusted dealer, who I know knows the wheat from the chaff, than dabble in an auction. JM knows their stuff, so I'd be pretty confident anything purchased via their auction is bona fide. -
Richard Temple - That Beatin Rhythm

The MGM pressing should bear this I believe.....(taken from Discogs) Pressing Plant ID (A&B runout): Block-shaped "S" stamp Matrix / Runout (A label): 67-3090-A Matrix / Runout (B label): 67-3091-B Matrix / Runout (A runout etched): 67-3090 A 11 SM Matrix / Runout (B runout etched): 67-3091 B 11 SM if that helps any? -
Not many about are there? I was lucky enough to get one yesterday NM/£45. The only other one I have found recently is on Ebay for £49.99 parrannie32. All other are Outta Sight. Good Luck. Angus

I found this site way too late. Sadly we are of the age when our souls are needed elsewhere. I can't say I knew Jerry well, more by reputation as I was a few years his junior and it was only today that I found this site, joined and was suddenly confronted with names of the past, a great and influential era in my life and for all who enjoyed the soul scene back then and it seems, ever since. Au devoir Hippo. Thanks for being a part of my memories. RIP. Thanks Mike for taking the time to reply, very kind of you.

Hi Jerry. You won't remember me, but I was a regular at Westfields for many years and remember you, and several others mentioned in you thread. Greg Piontek discos Friday night's were brilliant. Good friends of mine at the time were John Cucuirean, Dave Viles, Phil Gibbard, Graham Smith. I bought most of my records from the dear departed Rich Selwood. He was very kind to me as a 'new boy' and guided me to buying some classics. I couldn't prise Kenny Bernard out of his clutches though! Sorry to hear he's now passed. It was a great era and I'm fondly remembering him as I consider selling my soul collection. Best to all who were there.
