A great song, but not the one I'm after. Thank you anyway.

Hi all, I've tried searching several sites and search engines but to no avail. Does anyone please know a song (Northern Soul, of course!) with the following lines: "You'll find our love works better this way, When you trust in anything that I do or say" And then later in the song: "The girl you saw me with is just a friend" This is driving me up the wall! I'd like to be able to give more information but I haven't heard it for years! Thank you for your time / effort!
