  1. Those Chips stickers are the worst! There is no way of getting them off the label without damage! I wouldn't even try now. Some types of stickers have come off with a little water and time, but these are impervious to water and the glue sticks like poopoo to a blanket!
  2. A DJ who has a box of originals has probably more experience than someone with a box of recent reissue lookalikes. So I would think he would have a better idea of what to play and when to play it. If you have taken the time and given the commitment to buy the originals, it stands to reason you must be more commited, therefore more experienced to DJ to a knowledgeable crowd.
  3. I went to the regular monthly allnighters, because the records were great. All the new discoveries and lots of quality lesser know records were played. The DJ selection was second to none. Lots of people used to travel up, like me, from England for the allnighters. Great times in the late 80's early 90's. Ivan.
  4. It's not as much hassle to buy from the States now than it used to be pre internet days. I used to go to the currency exchange and buy dollars to send through the post! Then there was the need to send for a Goldmine mag to get the dealers lists. Sending bids by letter through the post. The risks I used to take, etc. So it has been easier with the internet but is becoming more difficult and less bargains to be had. I used to get some real bargains in pre-internet days. The USA dealers didn't have much of a clue on value, till they got those price guides and popsike!
  5. Yes that's how it's looks to me over the years of trawling through boxes and lists. I always prefer the blue demo and blue issue over the yellow demo and black issue. I was told that the yellow demo/black issue combination was set up as a jazz series on Verve? Or could it be just a different pressing plant from the blue demo/ blue issue combination?
  6. Joey Delorenzo is not my favourite record and not a great vocal, but it is a good dancer with a interesting production that works in a venue played loud. There have always been records that please the dance floor, more than the purist soul aficionado. But I think that's part of the tapestry of Northern Soul! It's varied with a lot of different styles. That's what keeps it interesting. It is a balance between the dancer, who just wants to have a good exciting dance, and the good quality DJ who wants to get good quality tunes accepted. As long as it's liked and accepted on the Northern Soul allnighter dancefloor, it should be played. It's a democracy and the dancefloor is where the votes are cast!!
  7. Maybe see about 4 times more demos than issues. The record is great, but not particularly rare.
  8. I thought there is something in the sites rules about using bad language.
  9. I bought the USA Red and White demo in Wigan record bar, it looks and plays great. I've never had a UK copy. Fantastic record IMO.
  10. Wigan Casino All-Nighters, and the awesome moment I first walked through those doors!
  11. Yes totally agree. Haven't they got any idea's or creativity of there own! Things like Yazz "The Only Way Is Up" and Simply Red with "A Lot Of Love". They totally overshadow the original better recordings.
  12. I also think "The Panic Is On" is a great record by Roy Hamilton. Slower than the other two, but still excellent.
  13. There should be a law to stop this sacrilege!. I hope it doesn't turn into another big hit, like Soft Cell and "Tainted Love!".
  14. "WHERE ARE YOU" - FOUR SONICS - TRIPLE B (Great version of Johnny Dixon on Boss) "IT'S NOT THE SAME" - LITTLE ANTHONY - VEEP (Hexagonal label design) "I WON'T NEED YOU" - GENE CHANDLER - CHECKER (Just pure Chicago class) Just some of what I have been buying back this year. Had them before, but regretted selling them. P.S. "It's No Sin" - Gene and Eddie - Mon'ca
  15. "The Chase Is On" The Artistics Brunswick 45rpm USA original first issue. Condition is Mint- Apart from two small drill holes in label. £30 plus £3.50 recorded delivery' Great version of the current Johnny Howard biggie!

  16. "Hey Girl Don't Bother Me" The Tams was reissued on Probe because of plays on the Northern Scene. (Twisted Wheel etc) Originally on the HMV label in the UK. That got to number 1 in the UK charts in 1971 on Probe. After giving it some thought, I think the Frankie Valli was earlier than the Tams reissue.
  17. Dave Godin. That's why one of the scenes biggest characters of the past, Pete Lawson, called his magazine "The Gospel According To Dave Godin!"
  18. "Walk With A Winner" Gene McDaniels was a little high but ok for a mint copy! £200.
  19. sweep113 has one for sale on ebay for £500. His copy is on the black 80's design RCA label. I think sweep113 is Steve Jeffries. It was on his sales list several weeks ago.
  20. They probably don't have a copies of things like Spyder Turner "I Can't make It Any More" - MGM! It will be too cheap for them! They won't want to get into that bag!! They thought it was a great record and really liked it, till they found out how cheap it was!!
  21. It was really loud upfront, but the Casino had many little out of the way corners and in the record bar, it was not as loud. Of course anyone who was feeling really, really good would not notice the volume too much!!!
  22. A wonderful classic Northern Soul record but I always thought it from New York. On that label and with those credits.
  23. I LOVE YOU ALWAYS c/w YEARS OF TEARS THE RIVINGTONS VeeJay. ORIGINAL FIRST ISSUE 45rpm CONDITION IS MINT- Labels as displayed in pictures. Two great Northern Soul sides. It's a doublesider! £70 plus postage to UK address recorded £3.50
  24. Is it Lou Stanley?
  25. Do you mean Frank Wilson instead of Jackie Wilson? I would not think it problem selling them, as long as you let potential buyers know they are lookalikes/boots, and do not state that they are originals.
