  1. "What Do You Want With My Love" c/w "Your Love" The Stratoliners. SOLD. Federal. USA original 45rpm first issue. Condition is a nice EX. Just a couple of very light sleeve scuffs and drill hole in label, otherwise it would be a minter. Plays really well with great fidelity. Much rarer on this greenish/blue issue than the white demo!
  2. I have known it for over 40 years but for someone who has recently got into Northern Soul, it's still quite fresh. I try and take a pragmatic view of the Northern Scene and take it for what it is! Saying a record is hammered to death is a relative to the induvidual person, but certainly not true for everyone listening to it! I agree that a DJ who plays a totally predictable spot of big sounds, but does not use some imagination and include some semi knowns is tiresome. But others might be listening to the same spot and they hardly know any of the records, so they are all fresh sounds to them!
  3. Nice happy post!! Start your own venue and play the music you like! Build up a following and something positive may come out of it!
  4. "Thanks, But No Thanks" - General Crook - Wand. Original USA 45rpm in a nice EX condition. £20 plus postage.
  5. Dinosaur to you too! Some of the new releases are ok, and I have listened, but they don't have the chrisma and production flair of the records from the 60's and the 70's in my opinion. They are just simply not as good!
  6. "Stormy" by Diana Ross and the Supremes -Tamla Motown. This lingers for a while! Such a great record by them!
  7. Sold. For sale a lovely original of - The 7th Avenue Aviators - "You Should Of Held On" on Congress. This is a really great condition USA original 45rpm. Looks and plays a great M- £2000 plus £10.65 fully insured to a UK address. Payment by bank transfer or Paypal (using friends & family option, or add paypal commision fee 2.9%) Please P.M. any questions. Thanks.
  8. Bought mine off John Manship for £3. It was not that rare back then, and I wouldn't be surprised if a small box full has turned up. It was only a soul collectors record when I bought it. In other words, it was good but considered to slow to DJ with! The dance floor scene has slowed down, hence the popularity of the crossover record. I don't think it's a good or bad thing that the scene has changed, it just makes it more interesting. We couldn't keep taking that dancing stimulant forever.
  9. Are you still looking for this?
  10. Wrong! It's a fabulously great record
  11. "You're Still The One" Roscoe Shelton T.Jaye. Original USA 45. £20 plus postage Condition is mint- Clip is off you tube just to hear the tune.
  12. Always for me, the instrumental "How Can I Forget" - Joey Dee - Caneil. Monster instrumental back in the day and once in my head, How Can I Forget?
  13. The LP will be cheaper, but then you would only have the LP, and would not have the original 45! I would think that the buyer really wants the original single.
  14. I was in Marks & Spencer's clothes dept about 10 years ago, heard the fabulous "Thank You Baby" - Matt Brown from the Jar Val label. One of the best so called "crossover" records you are ever likely to hear!
  15. Not Cd, but you will remember there was the Ric Tic Relics Tamla Motown LP with the pictures of Ric Tic records on the cover. A proper CD of good sound quality would be a good thing.
  16. I like the record and have always kept it. I must have owned it for over 40 years! Personally I would think about £30 to £40 for a good copy. Auctions do cause silly prices sometimes. But also some people can't be bothered shopping around! If they want it they just keep bidding and it turns into a competition to win!
  17. It's strange when you see people paying more for a bootleg/ pressing than it would cost to buy the original! I have seen it happen on eBay!
  18. I suppose some people are collecting bootlegs now. Soul-Sounds, OOTP, Colin Bee's top twenty boots from 1977, etc. They are quite nostalgic. When I see those 70's pressings/boots, it takes me back to my youth! Some are good recordings, but a lot of them are poor sound compared to the original records. I would imagine they were recorded directly off the original vinyl record.
  19. "Do Something For Yourself" Bobby Powell - Whit. USA original first issue. Condition is Mint-. Slight label mark, see bottom picture. £30+ postage. Really great record and a one that sounds great played in a venue! Bottom picture is the copy for sale. This is a clip of another copy on youtube, just so you can check out the tune.
  20. I think I read somewhere that it's not a good recording, something about the sound quality on all copies? Is that right?
  21. Reading the article, I think he means it's patronising of rich people to glamorise poverty!
  22. Amazing, who would of thought it would nearly go for more than Little Joe Cook!
  23. Maybe nothing sinister, maybe he just did not like the picture!
  24. You couldn't find a less racist person than Dave Godin!
  25. Ironically I bought Ila Vann "You Made Me This Way" as a cheapie on two separate occasions, for £3 a time! We never thought that would end up a high price record back in those days.
